CUTE! The 1 series M coupe is the most muscular beefy looking M car ever. It's like a true modern day equivalent to the E30 M3. It has the same kind of look and proportions and they're so rare. The 1 series M coupe is my choice hands down.

proportion or whatever it basically have hop up 3 series engine n54 which make power around 1500-5000 and loses power from there so reving to redline is pointless isnt that what the e30 about lenient power delevery and if torque is what you want why dont go buy a 135i and tuned it or amg merc and the sound is crap compare to all the m3s but im sorry the m3 is more of an m car even thou its biger unique engine high reeving lenient power delivery balance

I've owned a M3, and my household has a 1M. You know what they're both great cars. Loved the V8 on the M3, but you know what I don't love? Its the DCT gearbox, its not that great for day to day driving. The 1M is a great car, it handles great, and its alot of fun. But in 2015? That car is a little outdated, the M235i surprisingly is a better day to day car by far, and its just as fast.

THe 1M coupe has 332 Ib ft of torque. When you hit overboost, it adds another 35ish. So it's near 370.

i drove a 135i for a little over 3 years, 110k kms, swopped it for a 1M, arrived this summer 10k kms so far in it. few trackdays. its 5 seconds a lap quicker vs the 135i i had (with performance options). I also drove an m3 for a few hundred kms. its an absolute dream of a car. but in the real world, in average conditions - you can barely ever extract over 80% of the M3. you need too high revs to really make it go or sing. with the 1M being a twin turbo, the power is just always there. same fast.

To MVdesign, 1) Carlos is aiming at an American audience where the CSL wasn't offered, and 2) with 370 torques it is the most powerful. This was a versus video, and yes...it did suck at that.

I'm sure the 1M is a helluva car but that's not the main reason they're so valuable today. That's due to exclusivity. According to the BMW M Registry only 983 N. American spec E82 1Ms were produced. By contrast 15,799 N. American spec E92 M3s were produced.

Aluminum/Aluminium is one of the few words that can be pronounce either way and be correct, we pronounce it both ways over here and they are both correct. Actually, the original name for the element was ALUMINUM which is the way americans pronounce it, and later on the discoverer of the element added the -ium to conform to the name of other elements (sodium, potassium.) Personally I'd rather have the 1M. Its unique and represents the M badge very well by having the characteristics of the original M cars. I've seen a few E92 M3's around but I've never seen a 1M in person. Also, I've heard the reliability of the V8 in the E92 is especially bad which is saying something considering anything with BMW badge has reliability problems, lol.

That is a fantastic review, though I strongly disagree with their backwards thoughts/opinion of the 1 ///M coupe not being special enough to wear an ///M badge and having bad styling. I think both cars are gorgeous and they work. The 1 M coupe is more M3 than the current M3. The new M3 has paddle shifters and is far from it's heritage in size and in purpose. Where the 1 M coupe is dead on with the E30 M3 with the 1 exception - the turbos - but it's a Raw motoring tool. I miss my E30 M3 to death.

I liked my E36 M3 MT5 (US though, so only 240hp), I loved my E46 M3 SMG-II (333hp) but I drive my E92 M3 DCT. For the 1.5y I had both the E46 and E92 ... I never drove the E46, cuz E92 was superior in every aspect ... I did notice that I did like the rear of the E46 better, and the sound was a bit more exciting, but E92 just handled so much better, even if it's heavy (2 heavy). The extra space in E92 is so nice, fit 4 without issue. And for long hauls, I cannot imagine a better car. 911 TS next
