BMW 1 Series Oil Check

In this video Driveway Dudes Paul shows you how to check the oil level on your BMW 1 Series.
The petrol or gasoline models do not have an oil dipstick but you can still check your oil. It is very easy and you can do it by just following this short video.
When topping up with oil please do not put more than 1L or 1 Quart in at a time. Please use only the recommended oil for your car.
This may work for other models of BMW that do not have dipsticks.

That's spot on we've just been waiting till the oil warning light comes on , so probably been running with low oil constantly, probably why we had to have a new timing chain fitted at £1000

Hi there, my oil light have just come up on my bmw 1 series 116i on the dash. But when I checked it using your instructions, it says OK. Is there any way to check it manually? Or can I just reset the oil light from coming up? Cheers

Mine 120i right hand drive doesn't work that way! It's just keeps flashing engine ok without screwing through any options!

I have a 120d and I have a dipstick and a digital on clocks the dipstick says I have min oil and the digital say it's ok don't know if to put oil in or not

level it out(drive it somehwere flat like a car park-let it cool off to cold) then without starting check it - dont trust the computer

@@anthonylawrence7693 Bad oil level switch I think,don't trust it use the dipstick.It's near the oil filter housing. I have an LCI 118d and mine is just a black 'stub' which is hidden away discretely. Try post this on BabyBmw they can help usually.

Sometimes you may hear the starter motor engaging/disengaging from the fly wheel/ring gear. Sometimes on starting the engine/motor it may initially surge and shake causing other parts to rattle and in some cases auxiliary belts can squeal. Some engines/motors can make strange noises but then settle
