I took the leap and got this exact same setup on my 130i. I am soooo over the moon with the results! With the windows up, the sound is dampened enough to not be too overwhelming. Wind them down and floor it, and the choir begins to SING!! As for the pops and crackles 1st to 3rd 😍❤️

Nice Video ! Huge sound ! What do you call "resonator" ? Is it the "centre pipe" (Y) ? And what parts of 135i exhaust did you install ? Only rear exhaust ???

+Ow Rey Sorry for my late reply! The resonator is basically acting as the Y pipe in the original setup. It's 2 to 1 reducer which dampens the sound as the air travels out. With the 135i, I replaced the resonator with a custom Y pipe, and mated to the 135i exhaust box.

Hi, Thats great sound!! I wanna ask you IF the modifications made any chances in terms of performance, and how? The RES delate or the 135 backbox made the car more fast in higher RPMS? Thank you!

i have the same mod on my 130i... and no,maybe a few hp but you wont really notice it...the throttle response is slightly better though,but only a little. this mod is mostly sound...but oh my what a sound!!!! :-)

Fitted my 135i backbox today and have res delete. Not getting those crackles

🤦‍♂️ take the car upto 3k revs then let off as it comes down to 2k revs feather the throttle a little now and then you have to do this to produce the pops and crackles you want

Can you keep the stock resonator and just swap the 135i back box? And if you did what do you think that would sound like?

Yeah, you can do that. Would sound slightly deeper than my stock exhaust with the resonator delete at 0:24 Best option is just to delete the resonator at the same time, the sound is well worth it!

Cheers! I want a bit more noise but don't want to be too obnoxious. Figured that just the 135i backbox might be the sweet spot for me, but hard to tell because seems like most people do res delete and backbox.

It's deeper and louder for sure, with some burbling and crackling, but nothing crazy obnoxious. If you wanted that, then a straight pipe and catless downpipes would be the way to go ;) Just install the 135i back box and leave the resonator. If you do decide later on you want more, then it's easy for a shop to do it, and for quite cheap to.

So on your 130i you replaced the RES for a BMWP Y pipe or custom? And the 136i back box was standard?

connor mcghee i did it. Yes there is a drone but it’s not bad. It doesn’t rumble in your ear drum or vibrate the car

i have the same car with also res delete and golf t mod....was also thinking about retrofitting a 135i backbox. so how much louder is the 135i box compaired to the original one?and do you get any drone effect at lets say 3000 rpm on a highway? asking because i like the sound i have right now,but could do with a little more...but not if it gets lets say 30% louder than the original backbox. this is my car stock and next vid with res delete : kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZojJm2OcZbqFaK8 Info would be much appreceated!!! +BMW Drone is minimal. Sound is substantially better than just having the stock exhaust with the resonator delete. Watched your vid, beautiful cars we have! ;)
