I always remember the time just around 1970. I was just a boy age 5 and my father drove a 2002 tii. First a red one with the round backlights and later one with the square lights at the back. At that time there was no speed limit in the Netherlands. These cars were something special, ahead of their time. I later owned a 323i E21 & E30 325 E30 & Touring E30 but the 2002 is the ultimate for me. If your car is finished it will be close to perfection I think .

@Restorezone2 жыл бұрын

@@Restorezone I was wondering the same thing. Thanks so much for making these videos! I am about to start the restoration of my 1602 and your channel is extremely helpful!
@mrt71522 жыл бұрын

If German ist nit your mothertongue please let me know, so that i can write IT in english. Liebe Grüße
@Restorezone Жыл бұрын
let's just take english ;) I did indeed put putty on my epoxy ( of course also sanding the area to be treated a bit so that your putty sticks to it.. ) and that may well be that once here and there you're through and on exposed metal after putting several coats on.... But I try, if possible as little as possible on exposed metal for older cars.... ( and they do say yes putty also has rust inhibiting factors but one putty is not the other putty I don't fully trust that ) With newer cars this is a different story... the sheet metal is already much better treated and better rust resistant than before.... One more tip. always try to knock out all those deepest dents as best as possible before ! you put it in that epoxy. I'm sure you understand this ;) good luck !

Is that a shop-vac with sander attachment or sander with shop-vac attachment ? or One-for-all garage sander? brand?
@Restorezone Жыл бұрын
This was honestly an in between solution ( the Ghibli is my vacuum cleaner for vacuuming cars ) , vacuum hose is way too thick is also not antistatic and clunky and I had to put a spacer to get on the sander , also I put an extra filter bag in the vacuum cleaner so the motors wouldn't break down from all that fine dust. The sander itself is way too heavy for this work , now I use a festool ctl mini vacuum cleaner with a mirka deros sander , you can also go for the festool sander is what you prefer yourself

What is this epoxy stuff that you spray first i have not heard of it i usually do it filler primer paint
@gerhard61052 жыл бұрын
It is a coating that seals of the metal for oxygen. Through primer, oxygen can penetrate, not through epoxy. In Holland, somebody did his Alfa 33 with it, and about 25 after that restauration, the car is still rust free.
@Restorezone2 жыл бұрын
To older cars, it is certainly not bad to put an epoxy on first because the metal has not yet been treated as well as the newer cars and because an epoxy primer has the best! rust protection, the body of the car is protected from the formation of corrosion, rust and oxidation. And you are sure of a good base layer that you can work on. Then putty, and primer or filler primer ... the second as the name says just fill even more (extra thick) so you are sure if you still have sanding scratches or unevennesses to fill and also something to protect, if you use this on newer cars after your filler work is normal and you do this well , grtz

320 is too smooth for proper epoxy adhesion also , I do this for a living
@Restorezone2 жыл бұрын
Oops there I wrote a mistake , too late can't change it now .. actually my last step was 280 before the epoxy , and the epoxy was then done with 320, To then get ready for primer ... Another question what do you use it for ? Because there is a difference in that because if it is in construction on bare steel yes then it is 80 to 120 But on galvanized metal you may even go up to 400 according to me prescribed table! which I then personally find too fine too ...
@brandonstillitano7532 жыл бұрын
