On my 2002s I had the tank laid down in foam round it, so on my second car, during special rust protection (needed in Denmark because of salty roads during winter) I had my mechanic take it out and replace the foam with a type building sealing, not sucking in water, and I had an extra inside protection in the wheel-wells in front, now mostly standard on all cars, but not by then! So my car was free of rust when I sold it again some years later!

Impressive project ! I think it is the "Mobile Tradition" department of the BMW works that did this magnificent restoration, I seem to remember reading about this a couple of years ago, and if you look closely on the shirts of the technicians, you can see the words "Mobile Tradition", I think. They used only new parts for this project, as for the cost of it all, don't ask... But the end result is worth it!! Splendid car !

I bought my first BMW 2002 in 1989, and we repaired and restored it with minimal means with the help of my cousin, because at that time the Iran-Iraq war had just ended and Iran is still under sanctions, but in my opinion, the best BMW production in All these years, acceleration, speed and low consumption were three important features of this model

I had a 1968 Bmw 1600 Tii for several years. Great car even if it didn't hold the road when cornering. Unfortunately in 1977 it was destroyed because a convict without a license ran over me without respecting the stop sign. Luckily I can tell about it.

My last 2002 was also "Screaming Yellow" and with an electric heated window in the back. It was needed because of the asthmatic wents below the trunk lid, taking out air from the cabin. When full of people (4) it was much too little to really function well, so the electric window took the wapor.

I purchased a new 1973 BMW 2002tii - green with tan interior. Other than the colors, it looked about like this one. I remember the engine looking a little different. I know the 72's used rubber on the intake and the 73's went to metal. But something looks different.

As a rather tall person of 184 cm I sat absolutely miserably in the original and much too flat front seats (mowing it back was limited by its stop and still no leg-support, and soon changed mine to a special, also German, Scheel Alpina seat, which could be regulated in its hight, back-support and angle, so I got the needed support for my two legs. I only changed the basic mounting frame for this seat for my next cars also of another brand.

These guys are a little 'too clean'.😉 Disclaimer: 'No grease was harmed (or used) in the making of this car'. My father was one of the cleanest guy you'd ever encounter on the job but this is too much even for him. Did they all wear their sunday dress for the video? 🤣🤣 Anyways, of all the cars I have ever owed the 1986 bmw 320i was the most memorable and the one I missed most. Everything since has been nice point A to point B transportation. This car is probably as amazing.
