Success the first time on 2012 X5d. Thanks Brad!!! Using a USB 3.0 flash drive really helped speed up the map download from the laptop to the flash drive; from 3 hours 45 minutes to 15-20 minutes.

Brad thanx for your videos. Me doing an update: I had issues downloading *.hex file to USB until I got an old 1gig USB drive. If your USB drive is bigger than 32gig you can use Drive Partition in windows and formate to FAT 32. With the installation, you can turn your car off and next time it will continue to install where you left off.

This happened to me for the ‘Map Type’ field so I clicked in other boxes and it unfroze it ...hope that helps....I did this whole process but the FSC code doesn’t seem to work for me. Back to the drawing board

Thanks Brad for adding a simple step by step video. I am slightly confused if my BMW is CIC or not. Some videos show it is CIC others show it is NBT. It is 2013 335i sedan. Is there a way to confirm ?

Yes there is, you can find out by a simple Google search, nbt is more modern looking

Thank you for this tutorial and for making these files available. However, I'm unable to proceed past the FSC generator menus. The drop-down menus aren't working beyond the Map Type. I'm using Windows 7. I tried it on a Windows 10 computer, but no luck either. Any ideas how this could be resolved?

@@bradtourt I was able to eventually generate a code. However a new issue exists. The torrent file has been unavailable for download for a couple weeks, likely because no one on the peer-to-peer network is online with this file. Any thoughts or ideas? Thank you again.

What happens if you can't get the 1b.hex file from your vehicle. I have a 2018 BMW X1. I was able do down load the maps and everything else but can't get the 1b file. I only have a center console USB no glove box one. My 64GB thumb drive is at FAT32 as well.

It seems my 11/2008 build code 2009 X5 has CCC and not CIC, as such my updates ended in 2015 :(

Are you using the USB in your glove box or the center console? You can NOT use the center console USB. If your car doesn't have a USB in the glove box, then you will probably have to buy an FSC code online

Bruhgubs07 I using in glow box I have 8gb formated 32fat usb stick I extract file ‘’(copie scr)’’ to usb and put key on ignition about after 10 seconds when maps loaded then I connect usb to glow box I try many times and 30 seconds and 2 min and I was trying second usb formated fat32 1.88gb maybe I need to try with 32gb usb?
