i found on my e90 while there is supposedly ignition live on the radio connector on the car itself it doesnt like to turn off for ages so my head unit wouldnt turn off so i took out the wire that goes to that supposedly ignition live and wired it to the 12v socket as that ignition live goes off quickly when the ignition is off

I have a '09 335i. Are you familiar with the Eonon stereos? GA7165 to be exact. What I'm having problems understanding is regarding the chime retention. The Eonon already has. a harness that plugs to the factory harness. Will I need to cut apart any of the two harnesses in order to connect the chime retention unit? Thanks.

Connects2 I have both wires 12v + and - connected to battery with fuse and routed to the headunit location I have both step 1 ISO harness and step 2 steering wheel control harness with patch lead however after applying the harness I don’t get earth and acc wire anymore only 12v can you please explain they are all integrated and not required because my head unit wiring harness had all 3 wires 12v earth and acc wire

Connects2 Thanks for the link, but unfortunately for a beginner this is a real difficult thing to understand HOW to actually connect to the fuse - do you just tuck the yellow cables connector IN WITH the actual fuse? Even just a picture showing what it should look like when connected on the fuseboard would be enough! Thanks EDIT: Also, should my radio have no power going to it until the yellow cable has been connected? I've set up the bong box and the speaker and they both work fine, but whether connected to a particular fuse or not, whether ignition on or off, the radio has no power to it, despite it having worked in another car this morning! Any advice is very much appreciated!

Hey Hem Webber, Firstly thanks for posting your opinion, as I am constantly telling my overseers here on the point that we need MORE informational videos for you guys, and i think they are coming around to it, especially with this amount of interest and approach from the KZbin community, so i'm looking to do some more informational videos and hopefully a few videos within the garage on certain things (if i can get through to certain people). Secondly, regarding the yellow cable, yes the simplest way would be to find the right fuse and, depending on if you want to retain the metal terminal or work with plain wire, wrap it/attach it/tuck it in with the fuse. Another option you could consider would be to use a Fuse Tap, which uses a housing to hold the crimped wire AND fuse, found a video you can view on just the thing kzbin.info/www/bejne/e3mwlIqcn7R8obc (also pay notice at around 00:13 where you can see the wire attached to the fuse). Now the radio should power up without the yellow cable (because its function is that it works as soon as you turn into accessory, this way it prompts and keeps channels/presets etc.). In our video we didnt actually connect the yellow wire because it was for demonstrative purposes. If it has worked in another car, i would check all the connections for power and check that no fuses have actually blown. If still not working i'd suggest asking our Tech Team at the link above, its not a Sony is it?.... C2

Hey hundeide4, The head unit we get of trade you see, but it is a Kenwood (however i cant remember the part number as it was a while ago). Obviously for this install you will have to acquire a patch lead for your head unit separately. But you can order this through our website. Hey dexcz, The 12v wire can either be connected straight to the battery (which in the BMW is in the rear of the car) or can be attached to the fuseboard which needs to go to 12v ignition feed. If unsure on how to do this, as your nearest dealer (or a car savvy friend) to talk you through it, C2

Hi. I have the steering wheel retention kit for my 2011 E90. I have a Pioneer SPH DA120. The buttons for changing tracks on the steering wheel work as do the volume up/down feature. However, the buttons for operating the phone do not work, whether that's via Bluetooth or Siri. Anyone know what it could be?

Hey +Geo Vong, The main difference is that your steering wheel is on the left opposed to our right, but other than that, not so much. The kit will not affect any electronic settings within the car, you would still retain the use of the top display also. It's really up to you on which your get, for the video's I usually use Kenwood as they are an all rounder (and we have a lot of them knocking about), good to add that if you have a manual AC you would want to look at either CKTBM15/16/17, and automatic AC would be CTKBM12/13/14 ( the different numbers being different colour pockets) C2

Hey Ray, There are two clips on either side of the back of the lighter, it is a simply method of slowly prying it out of place by levering both clips, this can then be clipped into the new pocket. Be very cautious however because they are prone to break if levered too hard, C2

I'm probably not the only one to ask this. But the facia screw holes at the bottom do not match up to the screw holes that the old BMW genuine cage used to screw into (the one that you removed in the video with the 4 torx and 2 bolts) So I'm assuming the screws provided are self tapping. The problem is, the facia flexes away from the dash and pulls the screws straight out. It's mangled the material it has screwed into which is part of the original dash so I'm not best pleased. The original screw holes are about 12-15mm higher than those holes on the facia even with the facia snug in place. Also I have filed down the climate controls exactly as you have in the video and it fits nicely into the area before the facia is on so it's not being restricted. Do you have any suggestions for this? Also I'm very dissapoointed in the ashtray replacement. It's very cheap and nasty and the spring mechanism is weak, even when stretched out it opens up like some kind of a mechanism from a cheap child's toy. The colour match is also poor (mines in silver), also the chime retention box is very quiet and sounds very cheap compared to the original chimes. My main concern though is securing that facia in place, if you can help with that I'd be very greatful. I have to add that I bought the connects kit for my Audi A3 8p and it was world's apart from this one, much better fit with no problems. The wiring is excellent on both though.

Hi, bought the kit for my 2009 E91 and hooked it up, I noticed that there was two optical cables on the original stereo. I`m using a Pioneer player and there is no sound, all the buttons and the sound from the pdc is working. On the option list I have 676 option for stereo. I`m guessing there is an amplifier in the trunk. What do I need to to get sound?

Connects2 Found the culprit, the remote in wire to the amplifier in the boot was not connected, a blue and white lead connected to pin 13 just needed to be connected to the player and hey presto I got sound.

Denni Mayuga you basically have to tap the yellow wire into a fuse with no sleep mode. The red 12v will need to tap into fuse which goes to sleep once car is turned off but the yellow wire you dont want to tap into sleep mode as your stereo will lose memory settings etc.

Hey *****, The fuseboard should be located just under your steering wheel, yes its the wire with the fuse, the fuse is there to stop the chance of an oversurge of power. I'm planning on doing an instructional video seeing as this rouses a lot of questions so keep a look out on the channel. If in doubt just look at your cars manual, it should pinpoint its whereabouts in there also C2

Connects2 unfortunately he hasn't delivered.... on the Royal mail website says that he sent in the international items on Ebay... and the delivery time is specified between 29th may to 24th June..
