How to change battery on a BMW E90, E91, E92, E93
Sorry I could not show the coding of the ECM from EGM to standard battery type, but my NCS-Expert software does not run well under Windows 10.
If you keep the same battery capacity and type there is no need to code the ECM again.

Hello, just yesterday changed my battery after one month eror cc id 415. Bought brand new Exide AGM 95Ah, putted in car BMW E90 LCI as yours... voltage was 12,5. This morning it was only 11.7V. Totally weird. I drow like 25 km yesterday. Nothing was "eating" battery... no drain issue...

BMW 3 Series yes, 13.9V but I noticed that bsd line wire was cuted on alternator, need to be replaced

I was strugling alot with this. is it okay to change from AGM to normal Battery? I mean you already did it. would you still do it again? or did you say after one year, I wish I had an AGM installed instead?

Both types are supported. You only have to change the settings in the computer. The computer uses the settings to calculate when the battery reaches end of its life, nothing else. So far I haven't notice any difference between the two types

I would also like to ask another question. if I bought a battery with a little less length, could I make sure, its gonna stay with out moving? I think the one you had was 353 mm, and in the market I found something with 270 mm!

I read a comment that you need to apply a 12 volt DC under the bonnet while removing and replacing the battery. Is that true? Or can I simply just remove and replace my battery like every other car

no need to apply 12V while removing the old battery. But for the battery management system to calculate the expected lifetime, you will need to reset the computer which can only be made via coding,

Hi, can you please tell me what's the yellow/black wires right next to the battery are for or what they're connected to, because as I was looking for the PDC module in the boot I realized that the previous owner has the yellow and black wires cut and soldered to a resistor for some reason

I finally found out that it's linked to the airbag system and it simply sends a signal to the BST to trigger the charge iside it and disconnect the battery in case of impact, and to get the car running again, you'll need to replace the red positive cable which is not cheap, the computer will always check if the positive terminal is connected as it has a built in BST sensor sending a 2 Amps signal back to the computer and the previous owner decided to go cheap and reuse the same cable after the charge got deployed for whatever reason and connected the black/yellow cable to a 2 Amps resistor instead to emulate the sensor's signal. he basically rigged it thank you for getting back to me anyway :)

Dear experts, I have a BMW 320D 2010 model whose battery is dead. If i go to BMW Service center, they say yours is a 10 yr old car and the 90ah battery you have is discontinued and hence a newer version of 92ah will need to be installed for 700USD. If i ask a local repair shop, they say they can install an exide or amaron 100ah battery for 200USD. I dont think a slightly bigger size battery can damage anything as the current drawn will decided by the load connected. Still, any such experience ? Can I save some money by doing a local repair with higher sized battery?

90A is good enough. But you would have to reset the computer again, no matter what type you install. Std. setup is a AGM type but can be changed to Lead Acid type in the computer. Battery size is also programmed and finally there is a counter that needs reset in order to predict when then next change is needed. If you don't reset the computer its not a big deal, all will still function, but the computer calculation when the next battery has to be replaced, will be wrong. So go for the cheap solution :-)

Don't have to, but it helps the car calculating when it has to be replaced again next time

You have to! the car doesn't "calculate when it has to be replaced again". It calculates battery wear and adjusts the charge load. Not executing the battery replacement program will cause the new battery to wear much faster.

You didn’t register the battery. You’ll be back in there replacing it very soon. Buy a code reader that can register your battery.
