The xtraboost is not dependant on how much battery is left, you always have xtra boost even if its depleted. Car reserves some battery

Yes. There is an override switch for the steering wheel shake. It’s the one on the stalk on the left side of the column. Rotate it in the direction you want to go - even just momentarily... and it will not do it’s stuff (unless there is another vehicle that you may potentially collide with). The reviewer alluded to it as a subtle (but honest) dig.... but BMW are being even more subtle: yes you can and should use your indicators! Ordered an 330e Xdrive Msport pro with comfort pack (so I shall get the all important nets behind the seats!j today... my first BMW after lots of Golf GTDs and previously low grade generic company cars. I suspect the indicators will work on mine when it turns up! This review is interesting but the only thing I have really learnt that I didn’t pick up from the BMW website was the handle for dropping the rear seats.

BMW's naming convention is actually pretty logical and indicates the performance, not size of the engine. x16i: acceleration >10 sec (to 100km/h) x18i: acceleration between 8-10 sec x20i: acceleration between 7-8 sec x30i: acceleration in ±6sec x40i: acceleration in ± 5sec and so forth... It's more or less the same for every series so very easy to follow.

I fully agree with most of your positive comments. But ... the electric range unfortunately is far away from what BMW promises. Have it for about 1 year now and charge it with my photovoltaic system. So this is fine but not having this it would be a desaster.

Great review but those aren't just radio buttons. They can be set as shortcuts for just about anything. Also any gripes you mentioned can be turned off... So no need for indicators 😉

How is it an amazing car when it weighs 300kg more than the petrol one ? It has a smaller boot and you have to own a garage where you can recharge it if not it's pointless. BMW should make a hybrid like Toyota,no plugin cars
@joshoconnell164
@joshoconnell164 3 жыл бұрын
@@andreiarama8745 Well you don't need a garage just a driveway. Also considering with the SEAI grants it's cheaper then a 320i or 320d it makes sense. It's also has lower road tax by €140 a year.
@chanferali2447
@chanferali2447 4 жыл бұрын
I have had this for 6 months, you actually get charging range of about 26 miles. When you drive it you get less than that, and if you put heaters on you get even more less than that. In the winter you will lucky to get about 16 miles on electric drive. Poor considering the claimed mileage when I bought the car was 37. Therefore I need to charge the car everyday. Now here’s the funny thing, in London it costs between £18-£22 to charge the car, and you can do about 16miles with that. However if you put £18-22 petrol in the car you can do about 130 miles! So what’s the bloody point of charging? So now I only use the electric to climatise the car before I get in, and use full petrol mode for my commute. Apart from that good car though.
@DoneDealMotor
@DoneDealMotor 4 жыл бұрын
Very interesting insight. Thank you for this! It certainly seems like it makes more sense for you to use the petrol motor instead of the electric motor at those charging prices. Happy and safe driving!
@Giorg189
@Giorg189 4 жыл бұрын
Plug-In hybrids are only meant to be charged at home. Fast charging is overkill because these cars cannot take the "fast" charge speed like regular EVs.
@Lestalad1961
@Lestalad1961 4 жыл бұрын
I’ve had this car now for 13 months and love it. I’m not sure how it costs you £18-£22 to charge the car. I had a Podpoint home charger installed with the government grant. It costs me around £1.70 on my tariff to fully charge it.
@Lestalad1961
@Lestalad1961 4 жыл бұрын
@@chanferali2447 Then it’s clearly the type of car not to consider then. If you don’t regularly charge it then you’re carry around 200kg of dead battery weight and getting 40mpg at best from the ICE. Surprised you didn’t go for a self charging hybrid if you don’t have the capability to charge it at home.
@dstfno
@dstfno 3 жыл бұрын
While you're right that the cost of driving electric is not necessarily cheaper than on gas, I'm having a hard time believing it costs you around 20 pounds for 12kW of power. Electricity doesn't cost that much anywhere in the world.

Guys one doubt on luxary phev like bmw benz lexus and audi too.. are there high voltage battery cost to replace after 8 years of warranty incase for example 10k euros or 12k dollars. Or 9k pounds. If you save fuel on luxary brands monthly 100 10 years 10200. Then whats the point of phev on luxury? Battery is batter at one point you should replace. After warranty is ticking time bomb unlike petrol or deisel engines which are relaible. Otherhand same timming chain or combustion engine servivimg costs also same in phev

Haha it's a fair point but in the last 2 years the automotive world has progressed leaps and bounds when it comes to electric cars. As long as you have off street parking and don't do huge mileage it's difficult to not consider an EV. The stigma against them will eventually subside however at least petrol and diesels are still readily available for the time being ;)
