Hey - Sorry for the delay - this was marked as spam for some reason - I did bend them by hand, but carefully,I found that feeding them through the gap and then allowing the contours of their sorroundings shape them, helped even more, just take your time. ne brake lengths cut to order are cheap, but a pain to stop half way through and have someone run you up to the shop to buy more if you kink the pipe. and YES it is MUCH easier to drop the gas tank, (by drop - I mean loosen tank straps and pull)

sometimes corroded connection to undo it, rather than trying to undo it with a spanner, spray with WD40 and leave it for 20 mins first. be careful not to get this on the discs though. Hopefully that expands my explanation, I did both my lines in an afternoon on a sunny day, Really enjoyed working on it. Good Luck.

(T junction is on the passenger side, just under the tank) just undo the tank straps then lower it down, it flex's over the driveshaft, this will give you enough space to work around. The flexi connections are behind the disc brake and wheel itself, remove the wheels, heat shield and rear portion of exhaust. its much easier. hmmm anything else I can think of?? OH HOT TIP. cut the lines (that you are replacing - obviously) about an inch from the connection, you can then get a socket over the

Do it yourself mate, it really is easy, once you get started, tip for al of you out there, rather than trying to get the nipple of each end of the old brake pipe off, (near bleed valve) why not hack saw off the old pipe, allowing you to get a decent socket over it instead, so no shearing bolts with spanners!!! Good luck guys

Hey SPZero - so sorry for my delay, I got the brake lines in a pre cut length, if you take the old lines in (this will get you familiar with the layout and connections first) in to a decent motor supplies shop (I see you are in UK - MDC Motorist Discount Centre are great) they will measure the old against the new. and put the 2 female connections on each end for you - ready to connect to the T junction and flexi hoses (continued)

Hey buddy, I wouldn't personally, but it's up to you, If you drive it in to your local garage, you could ask them - they can then advise you if it will fail or not, I know they have to be properly secured though, and the lowering of the tank - after removing the heat shield and exhaust really isn't that hard, and it makes it a lot easier - good luck mate.

Thanks for making this video, it's really helpful. Did you bend the pipes by hand, and before you began began routing it up around the gas tank? You didn't have to drop the gas tank?

can you post a video on replacing the clutch in a 318is?

Can’t i just route the brake lines under the tank?
@englishbuilds2 жыл бұрын
Hi - I’m the owner of this video, it’s just on my old account and I can’t seem to recover the account haha! You could run them under, but they would be exposed to road debris, you also would need to attach them to something to keep them Ridgid. The process doesn’t take long though. Good luck

let me get this right, you took the exhaust off and the tank out to do the break lines?
@englishbuilds4 жыл бұрын
The exhaust was removed to complete another project. The tank was loosened and allowed to drop (not removed) this gives you more space to manipulate the brake line fitment - if you want to leave the gas tank where it is, that’s your choice. It’s only 4 bolts to loosen the gas tank straps so... 🤷🏻 Quick = convenient... FYI - Romer111’s channel is me - English Builds - many more restoration, repair videos coming soon :)

Question did you drop the tank
@englishbuilds Жыл бұрын
Yes I did, but did not need to remove it. It flexes down

How long would you say it takes to replace one rear line?
@englishbuilds Жыл бұрын
Depending on your skill and familiarity with your car. 2-3 hours.
@flipskater0327 жыл бұрын
can you replace this shit without taking apart the fuel tank and exhaust?
@romer1117 жыл бұрын
My apology for the delay, the short answer is no. However you don't have to remove the fuel tank, you can just loosen the straps, this isn't too much of a job, the rear seat should just unclip. The exhaust, you can also just loosen and let it hang down. I removed them because it was just easier and I was also spraying my exhaust to protect it and having a general clean up... I hope this helps.
