Nice work. Those early CCC modules in E60, E9x and E8x were always pretty fragile. My 2007 E92 335i had been two of them under warranty from BMW. By the time I was getting rid of the car, the third one was randomly rebooting and freezing up. Surprised the original 2006 unit lasted that long! It didnt surprise me when you got a knackered one from ebay. You were lucky to actually get a working one, even if it had a damaged volume control. :)

Very good video, explaining the thought process. But do you also happen to have an idea as to where to look at: I have a 2009 e61 with CIC computer, the problem is that the CIC does not boot up always when starting the car. To get it to boot I have to disconnect and reconnect the car's battery and then it works just fine. But after I turn off the car and back on again after some time, the CIC sometimes does not boot again and I have to disconnect and reconnect the battery for it to boot again... When it fails to boot, theres nothing on the screen, the radio doesn't work and the "no SOS calls" message comes up on the cluster.
@LMAutoRepairs Жыл бұрын
Hi Have you scanned the car to see if there is anything in there that points into any direction? That would be my first step... 👍👍👍
@4sidebars Жыл бұрын
@@LMAutoRepairs Yes, i have scanned for codes but nothing pops out to guide me in any direction. Only thing is, when the CIC doesnt boot, the backside cooling fan goes full rpm by the sound of it. And to get it to boot up i have to disconnect and reconnect the battery, then all works well until the next time the CIC doesnt boot up (about 1 out of 10 times it doesnt boot up).

Is a big risk when buying second hand parts, specially electric or electronics as all of them can remove but haven't clue how to test so the best option with parts like this is to get it in there, where you can see and test the part before you pay for. Happen with me, got a part online from a scrap yard , part was faulty, hi was arguing that part is good, lucky got my money back from VISA with lots of proof and emails.Majority scrap yard are cowboys anyway, very few are honest out there.

Hi As far as i am aware, the fan is not always spinning... depends on the unit temperature... Thank you for watching and for your comment!

Question for both experts. My 2009 ccc x5 e70 was working perfectly till I installed the android head unit, everything works except when accessing old ccc software, so I decided to remove it and install back original CID , however nothing comes on screen.radio works, steering wheel, idrive knob works, everything works except the stupid screen, I put the car on Ista and bunch of code of “no communication possible with junction box, transfer box, PDC” and the one caught my attention was “no LVDS signal”...could it be the android unit shorted the LVDS cable or the whole ccc mainboard is fried? I did the eject button /power reset and I could hear it does boot and cd/dvd spin but nothing on CID....any advise please...sorry for long explanation

Hi I am not familiar nor a fan of those aftermarket devices... so can't really advise... That said, it is possible that it has messed something... Check obviously the basics, fuses, connections etc... 👍👍👍
