@@bigtex144 It is important to refrain from holding the stick all the time. Doing that wears out the gears on the long run. It is a very unhealthy habit to rest your hand, moreover tightly gripping the stick, as that pushes it towards the sides causing dangerous friction. The hand should be on the stick only when changing gears and hovering around it the rest of the time to ensure the longevity of your gearbox.

Such a 540i as a hand switch is really a little beast. The unrelenting pressure from 180km / h upwards clearly shows that you are not dealing with paper tigers as is common today, but that there is really steam on the boiler!

I took off the exhaust after the cats. Stock manifold and cats, then it dumps under the driver's seat. The resonator and muffler were removed. Simple as that!

If KZbin buffer is correct timing that was like 5 second 0-60 which is pretty mental in an e34 obviously rolling start but still nuts as 5 sec 0-60 is what e36s get with the m60/62 and they are lighter

Keen observation my friend! I've run my 540i at the drag strip about 20 times, and it consistently runs 14.3-14.5 at 99-100 mph. I wouldn't say it's 5 seconds flat (that's close to E39 M5 territory), but mid-upper 5's I think are pretty realistic. But I'll try a couple gps app-timed runs someday and report back! :)

Thank you! And good call. I got a DUDMD chip awhile later to get the rev limiter up to 7k. Unfortunately didn't get to repeat this video with the chip before selling the car, but maybe I'll just have to do it with my M5 instead. :)

At the 210 kph max, it felt just fine, no issues or anything! When over 260 kph in my M5, I can really feel the wind and how sensitive the steering is, but it's still planted at least

It's just the fish-eye angle of the camera looking at the gauge from the side. It was running at normal temp (a hair under halfway)

No it is not. I also have this car, you can see some videos in my channel, and the car pulls to 60Km/h in first gear, 105 in second and 160km/h in third. This matches my gears perfectly.

It's a BMW M60 V8. It's a 4.0L DOHC V8 that makes 282 hp (stock) in the E34 540i.
