Further comments on my BMW650I 2007 convertible, has 129,000 kilo meters. The AC was not cooling well, took it to AC specialist. I thought the gas was less. The checked the AC and the bad news it will need new compressor replacement at cost $550. For those interested to buy used BMW650I make sure you have it checked as it might cost you to repair more than the actual cost initially. Despite the facts the BMW650I is a fantastic car to drive, very safe and comfy but it’s an expensive. SO you are warned to be prepared to have a good budget. My advise get the car we’ll checked even if you need to spend more to get it check well. I guess in cold climates places AC cooling won’t be a major issue.

I want to swap my 630 for a 650...... on the look out. Window shopping! I’ve had many newer BMW and Audi. The 6er is like nothing else. Yes they are getting older now but I think they look fantastic, good engines, built well and I rarely see another on the roads. A fair few of them have been ruined by the tuning crowd or wrapped or M6 parts added to a standard car. Finding a good one is difficult and from what I can work our prices seem to be creeping up

I have BMW650I convertible model 2007. Had issues with the transmission valve body. Unfortunately I replaced the whole transmission with used one as per the local garage recommendation “which was not a wise decision” I should have replaced the valve body only with remanufactured available on line at a cost of $500-600 including shipping. However had leakages etc since the replacement of the trans. Your video footage is an absolute fantastic. Although I live in hot climates SO We have issues with dust rather than 🌲 leaves. It’s an expensive car to maintain BUT fantastic safety and fast. The maintenance rather high with these type of cars. Oil recommendations from the BMW agent W5-40 which does give around 10,000 up to 15,000 kilo meter at the most. BMW650I tend to burn oil every 2,000-3,000 kilo meter SO adding one ltr as you go along will still give the required oil conditioner to the engine. I replaced the engine oil every 10,000-12,000 kilo meter. The battery won’t last more than 1-2 years. Preventive maintenance as you have explained is critical. The tire I replace every 3/4 years regardless. Electronic modules seems are very expensive to replace. The steering box tend to start leaking after a while. I have been reading so much, watching videos about the BMW650I they issues are spread throughout the world. When I had the transmission issues one sign of oil leaking was the sound of the transmission in reverse or shifting from first and second and metal in the gear box. My advise to anyone if you have issues with engine or gear box have them repaired better rather than getting used stuff. To end this message I would like to say thank you and well done for this footage video excellent 👍

Another well thought vid; thanks! Another problem I know ( with my E63) is I have a rear fog light & rear reverse light blown (differing sides) BUT to change them its a BUMPER OFF job... I can't be arsed to do that until both bulbs have blown... Think this could be an interesting vid if/when yours blow?? as a garage would charge an arm & a leg no doubt!! Keep up the great vlogs √
@ianmorrison6798
@ianmorrison6798 3 жыл бұрын
Mr. Singh...its not that hard to do I did it myself, a garage put in " long life halogen bulbs " Which blew not long after. There are lots of how to videos on utube showing how to remove the rear bumper. Just replace your bulbs with quality LED bulbs, ensuring they are error free CANBUS types, or you get the annoying bong every time you start up. If you do it yourself, just have someone to help you put the bumper back on, as both sides have a clip which can scrape the paint above the rear wheel arch. If you can't be bothered and get a garage to do it....at least get good quality LED bulbs to replace the old ones, as they last much much longer. Reversing lights are not a MOT failure but the fog lights may be. And if you’re like me you want ALL your rear lights working. GOOD LUCK SIR.

Great video !! Thanks Timm !! I have the E63 630i. Looks the same, slightly slower, lighter by around 160kgs, better mpg and the engine is more reliable overall. I instantly paused the video to order the Gummi pflege and also the Wynns Stop Leak. This shows how much faith I have in your recommendations. The other recommendations I mostly adhere to myself anyway. TRULY FANTASTIC CARS. So well built it begs the question ; "why buy a new one ?".

I had problems with my ccc, tried the reset which is press and hold both eject buttons and the off/on/volume button (all 3 at the same time) on the cd/sat nav. The the screen should go black and reboot. If it still doesn't work Google " BBA Reman" if you’re in the UK. I had to do this myself, they're fantastic, they will fix it and give you a lifetime guarantee. I had to remove the ccc from the dash and send it to them (you can find out how to do it on utube). They arrange the courier to pick it up, fix it and return it to you. The car will still drive in the meantime. It's still expensive (around £350)but MUCH cheaper than a new one at around £1600. I wouldn't recommend a second hand replacement as it could soon have the same problem and you'll need to get it coded at BMW ALSO. Be patient when calling the company BBA REMAN as they take ages to answer the phone. They were featured on WHEELER DEALERS, Audi TT Instrument Cluster, I think. Good luck....hopefully the reset works first. Nice and cheap.

I have an e38 and e39. Sounds like your “air puller kit” is not “pulling” the air out of the system; which looks like the reason your “over heating”. There are videos here on KZbin (research Timm’s first) that show how to bleed the air out of your system “the old fashion way “ Respectfully yours 😎🇺🇸

Interesting you mentioning get rid of the run flat tyres and replacing them with Falken FK510's, but what do you do for a spare?

Hi from NZ, A couple of questions, do you have the CTek device perminently connect to the battery and does the car need to be disconnected from the battery when charging? After removing the run-flats, do you have a spare or an inflator and a can of tyre weld/sealer? Regards Ric

Hello Richard, yes the Ctek is permanently connected, no need to disconnect the battery and I have a inflator with the glue!

Do these engines generally use oil? I used your buying guide and did the checks. Happily a recent receipt for coolant hose change and a load of gaskets etc. But it's using a quart of oil every 1000 miles or so which I wasn't expecting?

Use Wynn's 'stop leak' that usually helps. These engine burn some oil and leak some!

If I store my 650 in winter is it better to start it regularly even when its very cold or leave it for 3months if valve seals get brittle in the cold?

Hello I'm considering buying a used 2006 M6 with almost 120k miles clean title! It has no check engine light or strange noises but I'm still concerned something could break soon and I would have to spend 100s or 1000s of dollars in repairs! :( do tu think is a good idea to buy a used 2005 M6 V8 coupe??
@TimmsBMWRepairsandInformation
@TimmsBMWRepairsandInformation 3 жыл бұрын
I think there are more problems with the M6 - in particular sudden failure of the big-end bearings...

120k is towards the end of the engine life span. Sure you could squeeze some more life out but if you plan on driving the car hard a full engine rebuild at 150k miles is pretty standard with M cars

Thanks

If you had a torn PCV then you need to allow a good 100 miles or so to burn off the oil that will have pooled in the inlet manifold - also, give it some welly and sharp cornering before worrying!

I think runlflats aren't as bad when the car is brand new and so is the tyre, after a very short time they quickly ruin the car

I think the biggest difference was grip in the cold and wet - the runflats really lost grip in those conditions whereas the Falkens don't
