BMW AMPLIFIER MAJOR PROBLEM-WATER DAMAGE, F30/20/15/16/80/82 M3

I have an amplifier with water damage (barely noticeable when looking at the board), I want to try to repair it myself, but I'm stuck at the very beginning... after powering it with 12 V, it consumes no current, doesn't heat up, etc. Does it needs MOST signal to wake up? should it draw electricity regardless?

Hi, I have the same amplifier. Some water flowed on the box next to power supply connector, but no oxidation on the PCB. Any idea?

@@nicolashing no idea, could be anything really. Start testing all circuits, there are quite a few of them

If I were to go and buy the same amplifier from eBay, would I need any kind of programming, or could I just plug and play? I have a 2013 650i, at first it started sounding staticky and then it started shutting on and off. Now the HUD does not work, the screen is off, and also right before it gave out I got a warning message on the screen saying all tones were not functioning. Could it be the amp and if so could I just plug and play an amp from eBay?

Probably not. Most companies put VIN and Imobilizer info in Audio Units. Swap a used module and it likely won’t start. You’ll need to have it coded and/or programmed more than likely.

They are plug and play only the car scanning tool will show that VIN number is incorrect
