www.AutoWerksofAmerica.com - Why and how to upgrade to brass caliper guide pin bushings. Stock guide pin bushings are made out of rubber and flex, leading to uneven brake pad wear. Brass caliper guide pin bushings require more care. But they reduce caliper flex, improve pad wear and provide better brake feel.

@goriup Fixed calipers like the big multipots are rigidly bolted to the hubs and aren't always mated with floating discs. This setup still allows for sliding (it has to for it to work) so it will still give for disc variation (plus the hydraulics too), it's just to try and reduce the caliper twist. They'd never come this way from the factory for the reasons explained in the video; maintenance is much higher.

Dude! Thanks for the video. You the best. IMHO I'd rather go with OEM rubber bushings just because here in Ohio it's dirty and snows a lot in winter. I bought a car in Arizona and these Brass bushings were installed which I wasn't aware of. Apparently I didn't maintain and grease them on time. Now I ended up with uneven wear of pads. As you said - I'm not sure if I want to try to take them out now because they are really rusty and oxidized now. I'd say these bushings are better for the track use or a really non-humid climate.

Turner Motorsports sell the version for 335i bigger front aluminum brakes. They require uneven length pins and bushings. Their bushings come with inner o-rings to lock in the grease as well as keeping out the corrosion, salt, dust.

I use them on my race car. Unless it;s a road car and exposes to rain, salt and mud, it has almost zero maintenance. I ran plumbing brush through and removed some material for better sliding.

It depends on which E92 you have. We have a kit that will fit all four brakes on the 328i, 328Xi and the 328i X-Drive. However, they will only fit the rear brakes on the remaining E92s.

Could these bushings be the reason for brake judder on e83 x3? Replaced all control arms and still high speed brake judder.

Hy! Is it it possible that stock one to make a noise when reversing the car and braking?for example in a parking lot maneuver?

I have an E92. Will these brass fittings work with my standard front brakes?

Well I would have a comment about this - much like wiper linkage (which is essentially steel axle in a brass bushing), it will solely corrode on the inside because you're using two different kinds of metal. It is extremely essential to have these lubed all the time - otherwise - in ideal world with no dirt, surface corrosion will eat the steel pin which in turn will eat out brass bushing - seen it in reality many times...

this is a performance up grade and the bushings should be lubed up with brake grease. They are also in need of constant attention due to their exposure to the elements. It is a great upgrade and if done properly (maintained) no issues. Cant deal with them the same way as the rubber which most simply ignore. Hope this helps

ATE OEM rubber bushings are durable, it's all the aftermarket bushings made in China that fit sloppy and flex. With these brass bushings, they will stick ever so slightly and you will lose horsepower at the wheel and MPG. OEM is best.

Use CLR (Calcium Lime Rust) to get rid of crap off your steel and iron calipers. NOT Aluminum.

No Debate. The flange goes outboard(towards the rotor), the Circlip goes inboard(towards the back of the caliper) If done the other way, the Circlip likely will get punched out as the caliper uses this ridge to push out when sliding across the guide pin.

I've seen them done both ways now. I bought a set from Garagistic and I looked at their video on here and it looks like thr clip is on the inside of the caliper by the piston. That's how I installed. Now I'm not so sure. Fck.

@@crherniman @crherniman no, no, no. Good thing they're not press fitted. Take them out, clean them, and switch them to where the circlip goes behind the rotor. If you could, please link the video from gargastic for us to compare. If there's a problem, I'd like to contact them about this. ... OMG, I just saw the garagistic video I think you're talking about. That video doesn't show an install, but it does show that it's installed wrong. I could see them saying - hey, let the new guy do this video because we want him to think we're cool, but really we're too busy to do it ourselves, and that's what we saw. Garagistic is a small business, low budget. Camera guy is probably a friend. I've been to their shop twice before, and they seem like they are trying to be cool, kinda like the volcom of aftermarket parts for bmw. Both times, they weren't ready for walk-in customers, and showed like they were really ready to do business... I'm going to call them about this video. They make good stuff. Their welder and machinist are very talented. They make beautiful peices, like their adjustable solid and non-solid shifters. But, it is possible that they totally overlook things form time to time. Anyway, there are 3 videos, with a forth, you could look up on yourself on ecs tuning, where there's is actually press fit, and even still they install it the way I'm tell you because of risk of loosing the fitting. Try to imagine if the circlip fails, where would you want the bushing to be - on the car making your brakes act weird, or the bushing slips out and falls off the car, potentially making you have no brakes at all. You should fix that right away. Here are the videos kzbin.info/www/bejne/nJLcmomsjLOIhZo kzbin.info/www/bejne/jnetYYqlnJWGm9E kzbin.info/www/bejne/e2irZJmjnL6Ui5I

It appears he removed too much material from the caliper and the bushings are loose. I wouldn't run the caliper like that.

turn stainless pins on a lathe and seal the end of it up with some kind of rubber boot. shouldn't be that hard.
