BMW get rid of this set up and bring back the manual buttons for climate control, this will be a big dealbreaker for a lot of people looking to upgrade.

I have an F90 M5, and I love the iDrive system. Sure it took a while to go into the deep settings. But heated seats, a/c seat, massaging seats, climate control has actual buttons. I really don’t like how complicated BMW has made these settings as built into the screen. I do still want most used options as touch buttons. They may not be a hard button but much simpler layout/design. This looks like a mess because they tried to make it look pretty.

I can agree the physical buttons were more easy to use. Trying to tap the screen while driving could do more harm that good so Im still 5050 about it. I do like how voice command can control all the functions though.

@@BeamerView oh I didn’t think about the voice commands. I honestly don’t use my voice commands as is now and probably should. But that’s a good point. I’m not sure my voice commands control climate? I may have to give it a try? I think I have iDrive 7? 2019 F90… if that helps. Heck now I may have to go try it out haha. Love this channel. Voice commands work but they’re still not quick as hitting a physical button. It’s a shame they did this but it’s not a deal breaker and at least they made it easy to access.

Awesome and helpful video. Thank you for putting in and labeling the time stamps. Question, is it possible to set up cabin preconditioning so that it is dialed in to a specific temperature. For example, on an August morning I may want cabin at 68 when I get in, but on a February morning I may want cabin at 78 with heated steering wheel and heated seat on.

@BeamerView
@BeamerView Жыл бұрын
Sure! The new screen needs some massive breakdowns, I agree!! When you set presets, you can have it save to it's own folder, these can be sirius stations, fm, am, etc. BMW did get rid of the old preset numerical buttons but added a new SHORTCUTS menu. This can be found by swiping down from the top of the screen. Here you can set radio stations or settings as a shortcut by pressing and holding any setting you want to save.

Is there a way to have the climate system activate on my i4 when I approach the car with the key fob? I drove my brother's iX for a while, and I liked his setup. When I approached his vehicle the doors unlocked, and the climate system was on. Here in South Florida, it would be great to have the AC on before getting in the vehicle. Now it is only on after I hit the blue start button.
@karlInSanDiego
@karlInSanDiego Жыл бұрын
To save energy on BEVs or even on ICE, if the outside temperature is lower than your interior temperature and you want to cool the interior, you can turn off the AC and set the fan to higher than off and with recirc off. This eliminates the power/drag of the AC when it's not needed. Or you can roll down a window, but for maximizing efficiency, windows up gives better aerodynamics.

And don't forget opening a sunroof for a few minutes after entering a hot car is the most efficient/fastest way to help the hot air escape the cabin quickly.

I may buy out my leased and beloved fully loaded 2021 X4 M40i, because I use interior cabin air circulation to rid myself of the terrible outdoor air pollution from factories and wildfires. I don't want to worry about switching it on every 20 minutes especially when its not an actual button, but something I need to sift through the system to find... Its better to have the air filtering within the vehicle most days of the summer months where I live thanks to industrial air pollution.
@BeamerView
@BeamerView 11 ай бұрын
I do believe the vehicle should do a good job of filtering the air. Many of these newer BMWs can detect when the air is not clean and it will adjust itself accordingly as long as you keep it in auto air circulation
@geminiflower
@geminiflower 11 ай бұрын
@@BeamerView so being naturally curious I had to really check and yes you’re right about the filters. I have an air monitor reader and I took it in my car. So I turned on my indoor air circulation and I have to say you are correct! The filter does clean the air very well and the carbon readings were better in my car once I turned off the indoor air circulation and turned on the A/C. I love my x4 M40i it’s something I may keep after the lease is up next year, it’s so easy to drive it’s the best car I’ve ever owned. But the features of the 2024 are also really tempting…

M340I owner and it looks to me that we can no longer direct the air how we would like. For instance, if my feet are cold, can I direct heated air only to my feet? Can I split the air between my feet and defrost like we used to with buttons? Not sure I fully understand dynamic and balanced other than balanced does just that, sends equal amounts of air from top/middle/bottom. Correct? Thanks!
@BeamerView
@BeamerView 6 ай бұрын
If you have idrive 8 which is what is in 2024 BMWs M40is, you would have to turn off the AUTO climate mode and you should be able to make adjustments to the airflow. I have seen it in one car where it didn't work too so not sure if its a common issue that's going on. Balanced airflow is good for normal climate conditions, keeps the fan blowing smoother and quieter, dynamic is good if you're quickly trying to change the temp in the car but the fans will be louder.

Is there a way to bring up the Climate Menu without hitting the button in the infotainment screen? It can be hard / unsafe to do it when I am driving. Is there like a shortcut or a voice command? Thanks, great video, however wish BMW didn't remove the hard buttons, they just make things so much easier (takes 3 clicks to increase fan speed now instead of just 1), and voice command isn't 100% reliable right now either.

Thanks for following the channel. It's odd that it's doing that, I have been noticing that voice command has been acting a little glitchy for the 24 X5s, even today pressing and holding for siri would just disconnect the phone and reconnect to it. I highly think this is a glitch that should get resolved within the next couple months through some updates. The way you are doing it is correct, you should get voice command to prompt when you say Hey BMW and siri should prompt when you say Hey Siri. You could try doing a iDrive reboot to see if that helps. Turn on the engine and then press and hold the radio volume knob for about 30 secs, let go when the BMW screen goes black. That should do a safe reboot and clear out any glitches until they release the next update.
