400bhp from an NA s50 is impressive, I wonder what’s been done, glad it’s not an s54, well if it was the rod bearings would need replacing after every run 😂

There are several lebanese s54s making +400hp N/A pretty reliably. You can even turbo the s54 and It holds up.

Rod bearings are as just as much of an issue on an S50 as they are on an S54.

Hmmm... To me it looked like he was pushing it to hard and went over the limit a lot. 2:05 and at the end especially, fighting it the hole way through and newer got into the flow. Or is this typical for RWD class ?

As Commander said, yeah this is totally the nature of these cars. As soon you start to tune, engine swap, modify anything from this age they become super tail happy ! But that’s all the fun and great for the spectator ! The driver is fully in control , this is awesome car control 👍🙏😎

a destroke kit most likely. that family gets their engines from motortune they built a 500 hp destroked s54 for Michel Feghali. easiest way to make power on the s5x engines is to change the rod ratio so that you can increase rpms while keeping a similar or slightly higher mean piston speed. the s50b30 and s54 heads breathe pretty well so it was probably minor head work as far as port shaping goes and then switching to titanium valve spring perches and keepers with upgraded springs to support the higher revs
