I can’t believe how clean your engine and engine bay area is. 👍👍

Thanks! Indeed it looks great. It looked rough when I first got the car but it cleaned up really well.

just wondering if the oil viscosity 20w50 is quite thick for this engine and climate you are living in,
@ClassicBMWFanInQuebec3 жыл бұрын
It is thicker than what I used before yes. I noticed the revs were climbing a bit less freely after I recorded the video. It is stil somewhat cold here but during the summer (when the car is driven) we get temperatures of 20 to 30 C in Quebec (and humid!) so the car should be happy with the 20w50 oil. I might consider another oil weight next year after I tried 20w50.

My 92 735i has had 20w50 since it was manufactured. california car. no temp extremes. these engines just like heavy oil

Very thorough video man! Any chance you know the part # for those dipstick o-rings? I can’t find anything on realOEM for M30’s.
@ClassicBMWFanInQuebec3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! The dipstick o rings are part # 11431717666. They are 9x2.2 mm.

Got one similar but need to replace head gasket. Any tips? Dad also has a 86 735i but only goes in reverse, was told it could be a cable in the shifter. Any videos on those? Thanks
@ClassicBMWFanInQuebec3 жыл бұрын
Hi Comtpon ChuckZ, I never changed a head gasket nor have I worked on the transmission. Sorry that I can't help you. Try searching on bimmerforums I'm sure you'll find some good info.

same thing, bro dunno how to do it find a manual but nothing very helpful there (like: remove this, then remove that, no pictures of all operations, no instructions)
@ClassicBMWFanInQuebec3 жыл бұрын
@@oldschoolracinggames5729 Have you consulted the Bentley repair manual for the E32? It doesn't explain everything but usually it gives a good overview of a job.

It almost looks like you have some gold(?) paint on your rocker cover?
@ClassicBMWFanInQuebec3 жыл бұрын
It's called cosmoline, it's a coating that BMW used to protect the parts back in the 90s. Over time it yellows and it can't be removed without also removing the silver paint on the parts.
@Resq283 жыл бұрын
@@ClassicBMWFanInQuebec oh wow. Ok, maybe I shouldn’t have wire wheeled that gold paint off my rocker cover. Damn. But the flaking paint looked so bad.

Hi man! I’m huge fan e32, i used to own 750 V12 and now i bought recently 730i, m30. But i bought it with problems in engine: huge emulsion (coffee with milk) in expansion tank. Don’t know how long it has been driven like that. Seems like no emulsion in oil tank and no overheating of engine when i was driving it before buy. I wonder if it’s safe to deliver it to service (3-5 km) by its own wheels or it’s better to tow?
@ClassicBMWFanInQuebec3 жыл бұрын
Hi Sergey, if it were me I would have the car towed to the shop. The situation you describe doesn't sound normal and I wouldn't want to add any more damage to the car. Maybe if the engine is bad you can upgrade to the 3.5L M30? :)

do you have suspension video
@ClassicBMWFanInQuebec3 жыл бұрын
It might be worth restoring if rust isn't too bad and the interior is good. No I have not touched the suspension yet. The next video will be about replacing the sway bar links, center link and idler arm bushing.

can you try using liquimoly mos2 which reduce engine vibration
