Phil P when the coils aren't designed to drive them, the increased air gap distance creates a weaker, hotter spark that's less reliable.

hmm never new that. I used them in my m52 because they said they were compatible but I stick with ngk now. everyone seems to be happy with them. and they supply bmw from the factory now too.
