I have 1999 E36 Compact with the same engine and manual transmission, it is real fun to drive! It currently has 228K kilometers and it is in bright red (Hellrot) colour.

0:40 cabrio and coupe do have different hood and fenders. 7:30 Compacts never had the electric rearwindows option, only the coupe had it

@@FixAndLearn Youre welcome, I hope I didnt come off as rude. Another interesting information is the compact has its own headlights which use hb4 and hb7 if I remember correctly (I swapped them out to hella coupe headlights).

the pull switch for the headlight is also a turning knob to adjust the brightness of the cluster.

Great info, in hindsight I forgot a lot of other things like for example the damn steering wheel not being adjustable in any way!

Got mine since 2 years with the M43B16 1.6l 1999 with Automatic Transmission. cause me no troubles and Problems and a better one then in the E46 or E90. Its Clean and nice and another 2 years in my own. Got füll Accessoire package and Got 271000 in His clock. Original First engine and gearbox. It felt a bit Off By a Car that was produced at the Last and longest to have parts of E30 Most of all Just the end IS shorter but the messuring IS the Same. The interior of the Coupé should fit but ITS hella Work. ITS a perfect BMW for beginners or Just AS a Daily Partner. This Thing ist unbreakable and i need to say it Got His quality. Mostly no issues...but the cupholder the Main console with the Gap ist waste of space and IT really gave me the Feeling BMW Just Wanted to be compareable to Golf4, A3 and wanting to Push a successor in the hatchback area.

The doors are different from the other models. They are similar to the Coupe when it comes to length, but they have pillars like on the Sedan and on the Station Wagon, so they are unique to the Compact.

So the side plastik strip will be the same on both coupe and compact car?

We have a 1977, 316i, motor M43. 260 000 km. Over the rear weels plenty rust. In the bows inside and outside, Boston green rusty there. BMW use av white rubber on the bows over the weels. And under the white rubber it can grow a lot of rust. ,,,,,,, In av proff work-shop, it cost about 4000 €, or 4000 us $. And that's a lot . 🇳🇴🙂Norway is expensive.
