Hey bro. Quick tip. Its easier to use a 9v batt. it'll burp the speaker. if you're able to see the speaker through the grille, the cone forward means your wires are correct phase. A cone sucked in, means the battery is phased backwards. :)

I have a 2001 E38 with a Factory setup and the Navigation Display on the Head Unit is bad. I never thought about bypassing the Deck with a Bluetooth Amp. I'm going to try this. Thank you!

Well noproblem, I believe you will enjoy the new tech that is out there that will improve the 740. You can also check codes threw the head unit by using a bluetooth plug that attaches to the obd2 connecter. You can also see live read out of your speed and coolant temp and air temp from your mass air flow sensor. It will open up a new would to you. Try it out, you will enjoy it. Thanks for being open minded to it. You can get a andriod unit on Amazon for around 250 or $300. If you dont like it youbhave a month to send it back. You already have a amp so this part will be really easy for you.

If I were to just buy a Bluetooth connector to the back of the factory display unit, would that work if the NAV unit is bad?

Wow!!!! You are brave to hook you Iphone directly to the speakers. I'd bet they draw way more power than a phone can tolerate for very long. if your factory radio stopped working because of the factory Amp, I wonder if you can get the line wires that go into the old amp to work in the new amp.Then you'd have radio function. I have that amp, but I have not installed it yet. I got for an older car that didn't have such an advanced factory radio, though. I just replaced the amp with a used one when the amp died in a car as new as yours.

Nice video and it is really helpfull. Was all speakers in that big connector or was there some speakers in the smaller connectors? And if you could draw the wiring diagram that would really help.

If this is a 4 channel amp we’re you able to only get 4 speakers to work than? I’m looking at doing this and found a Bluetooth amp that’s pretty cheap and was looking at doing this for the time being so I atleast have some sort of sound instead of silence lol

Dude put in the money and get a android unit that has nav internet and Bluetooth for about $200. It will worth it. It will also make the interior more modern and unique. I did it and love it so much.

Okayy my set up is a andriod unit 9 inch display player. Its grrat because it gives the car a more modern look amd fits the interior with it. I had to get a aftermarket amp and the wores from the spearkers are wired from it to the unit. For the steering wheel control you have to sort out the wire for that. You might have to bring it to a shop to do it. The price might be a turn off to you but ita worth it in the end. When I bought my car the amp was wired already. I just had to change the head unit. For a new amp and heas unit it might be around $400. If you do it yourself. But it gives the car a great look and easier to work with for the entertainment. I can surf the Internet and have GPS on the unit at the same time also have my own baclground picture.

@@michaelmanaje7281 Heyy, yeaa just checked it out. It looks great like it alot I have the same but older. It should fit yours but make sure it will fit your e38. Contact the Seller and ask if it will fit your year. I think your year is good but I have a 97. It has the heater core right in the back of radio. Some of these units are too long for the our cars because of the core. So make sure your car heater core isn't right behind the radio. All of them are pretty much the same the android unit, all from China. But these unit seem to hold up good over time. Quality is good on them. I have mine for 2 years now and loving it. I have back up camera and installed a digital TV with the tuner inside the glove box. Now thats how a 740il should be, TV with a flat screen that has a touch screen watching baskit ball games live and the news in traffic. Love it alot. Yeaa get a 2 year warranty just incase.

Sorry for off topic comment, but it is about your old Go Kart video. What is the distance from the foot pedal to the back of the seat?

Not sure anymore. Made that go kart, and the videos, 15 years ago! Kart went to a friend and his kids thrashed it and had more fun with it. All I can suggest is, get the kid in question to sit on a table with bent knee and take a measurement. Make sure you leave room in your design to move the pedal forward for when the kid grows.

Just use a Bluetooth Speaker or do a proper fix instead of cutting wires in your car. You can replace the Radio in the trunk or fix it by soldering it.

Any idea as to what causes them to go bad other than age. Is there something that can be done to fix the amp rather than just replacing the entire unit
