BMW E38 water in E box, DME repair

The E box of this BMW is in the middle of a rain water drain system. There is always water held there that doesn't evaporate. Some water is going inside the E box through the seals at the top. One DME was dead, causing messages "Getriebe not Programm" and "Motor not Programm". Also the temperature gauge was in the red while the motor was cold. The same symptoms will occur with other problems like no power supply to the DME. I put the DME on the heater for one night without result. I removed the retainer clip below the crystal inside the DME and everything worked again. The clip could mess up the capacitance causing the oscillator to stop, leaving the DME dead. Please do not solder inside the DME unless you are 100% sure what you are doing.

Hi from scotland , i have a 750il and ive been trying to get my car started for a while ,no one would look at it ,so today i was going to check a relay in the ebox and found about 3 inches of water , i was getting all the same symptoms as you ,so hopefully its a step in the right direction, thank you for the video , cheers

Hello how are you i have bmw 750il year 1998 i have wash the engine with water and accleator pedal be come not resbond and i have check on electrical system every thing is ok but there is 2 computer called DME same numbers and shabe both same the 2 DME the car is running fine we have switch places and the car be come run and off run and off run and off .. we have return the 2 DME as factory coniction car be come runs fine ..... the main proplem that i have no resbond from accleator pedal

Hello if two DMEs are ok them maybe the EWS has got wet. EWS if for throttle. The EWS is the biggest computer so most likely to get wet from the bottom. To take out, open up and dry. Also to check your relays at bottom of e-box. See if the rubber tube at the bottom of the e-box is open so water can get out. Be careful with the connectors. Try not to ruin the car.

Is 2 DME is ruins or one of thim or is it ok if replace places and thia normal car run and off ?

the 2 dme if we switch places car be come run and off run and off and if we return them to normal car runs fine but no resbond off throttle .... is 2 dme has to do with throttle and gas pedal ?
