Awe man this is so good, love wagons, especially E39 wagons and what you did here is sweet, I’ve driven with welded diffs before and other than drifting they absolutely suck everywhere else, LSD for the win!

Clean e39. Gotta love a 540/6. I’ve owned 3. 2 were e34 540/6 m sports. The m60/62 are under appreciated power plants and they have potential, it’s just on the more expensive side to build. The best mods for the e34 chassis is definitely to swap in a 3.15lsd from an early e32 750i which is a direct bolt-in once you swap the driveshaft flange. That diff, and a ltw single mass flywheel makes such a big difference. The dual mass is like 33lbs and over $1,000 to replace with the stock one and extremely foolish because not only are they heavy as hell but the membrane inside of it breaks apart and makes it shake and give you all kinds of drivetrain vibrations. I like what you did with the happy handle. Clean install. Time to dye or swap the interior to black and that would nearly complete this touring. Can’t believe you paid $700 for it.

I actually have noticed some rattle. Kind of disappointing.... But I am also still dealing with a persistent vanos timing code. P0012, going to try and retime before the next event

@@rndmheroxx I have some start up rattle on mine and I just did the guides, chain, check valves and tensioners. rattle seems like its just part of the e39 experience so I'll just let it go.

No troubles swapping the manual transmission in ? When i was mining for info on these I read that there was a mess of software killswitches to override when switching from auto to manual None of these ?

The biggest hurdles with the swap, were making some wiring changes (adding reverse switch wiring, changing cluster/LCM pinouts etc) and the coding portion. I was new to coding BMWs but managed to get it all sorted out. No errors, no lights on the dash! Like it came from the factory!

I will try and get an "in-depth" video out here in the future to show some of those intricacies . No steering mods yet, with a steering box, my options are quite limited. The dual caliper setup is very custom, welded on aluminum brackets to the bottom side of the knuckle. Again, Ill try and get a vid out showing more details! Thanks for the comment.
