BMW E39 M5 S85 V10 Swap first drive

Sorry it's been so long since an update but here is the car moving for the first time since the swap. Only a short video. Still lots of things need finishing but having it move for the first time was a great achievement

you use stock harness and ecu? or a standalone?

I'm using the stock DME and integrated the E60 harness into the e39 harness

I wish I could but it's probably too late for that now as it's mostly done. If you start with an E60 harness and remove stuff one thing at a time and test that's what I did

Wow! How did you manage to fit the steering rack? Was that the most difficult part?

Hi, the steering rack fits fine, the steering column/shaft on the other hand was very difficult and took some working out

@@rodknockers2036 Did you have anough space there to install turbo in this beast ?. I own 540I E39 and thinking to swap this engine too

@@henzo7087 I doubt there's enough space for a turbo, not enough room for the factory air intakes

@@henzo7087 not with turbos, maybe a supercharger. The plenum fits now the front suspension is redone to allow it sit lower. The air intakes with the filter in do not fit due to height

Did you guys change the rod bearings?

Not yet, it's on the job list but I wanted to make sure I could get it running first. Just incase there was issues doing the rod bearings that stopped it running

Yeah this has the full vanos, it's running the factory dme
