Thank you for the detailed video. One question, the new polyurethane tans mounts do not seem to have the notch for the top slot, so it can tightened independently. I imagine the trick would be to hold the top nut while tightening the bottom nut?, any thoughts to share?

I would recommend stock trans mounts, though your trick on the poly ones sounds like it would work.

Hi mate, don’t suppose I could ask some advice about my E46 318. Basically my ABS, traction and hand brake warning lights come on as soon as I turn on the ignition and remain lit whilst driving. And today I started the car and no warning lights were on, I thought ok that’s great! Then 2 minutes down the road I pressed the brake pedal and got a weird noise for a few seconds and then all the warning lights came back on, but the noise stopped and the brakes carried on working fine after that? I’m not going to drive it now, just going to take it to the garage, but what do you think is the problem? I hope it’s not expensive!😟

Sounds like a problem in the ABS or ASC system. You'll need a scanner to scan those modules for codes and go from there. Blind diagnosis is a waste of time.

Fun Fact: E39 530d uses the same Transmission Mounts, I just replaced them with same Corteco mounts used in this video. Unfortunately, that didn't solve my problem. I still hear thump when I hit max throttle and release it.

@@erhodes8745 Yes! After I replaced the mounts, I did gearbox service (oil, filter and gasket), that did not help either, but then a guy from Bulgaria told me to use INPA to reset gearbox adaptation and that solved the problem!

I have the same loud thump when I press the gas hard but I don’t have to let off to hear it, it’s once as soon as I hit the gas

Similar to a wife or gf. You know when shes a little loose. Toss out the old and get a new one.

Excessive vibrations being transmitted to the cabin/chassis. Or visually inspect them. Broken or visibly collapsed mounts should be replaced.

Whenever I do this job, I always take the time to remove the shields to access the bracket bolts. I don’t believe in bending those aluminum shields at all.

That's fine too, but the shields are not at all hurt by bending them in any way.
