I've spend about 48 hours measuring, lapping the valves whit diamond polishing compound and assembling the head on my buddy s54.

excellent vid sir.. you make me want to stop being lazy and do a proper valve job on the cyl head lol. I saw that you're using the hex vs torx bolts on the cams.. I upgraded mine even tho the hex bolts weren't backed out at 100k mile teardown. Hope yours stays with the loctite/threadlocker in place! :)

I have replaced the 10.9 with the 12.9 they last much better, torqued harder. Its the Material not the Head of the bolt. I Pray the engine will work a while :) the rebuild takes more time than expected.

@@Runliquid you're correct its definitely the material, i was just under assumption the identifier of head type was the typical determinate of bolt material.. and totally get what u mean about the rebuild taking longer than expected; I'm not doing near to the detail you are and already over a year in.. thought it was gunna take 6 months max XD.. hoping both our S54s stand up to the test of time :)

What are you using to mark the inner surface of the valve seat to check for wear? Just a dry erase marker?
