Great video not something i hear failing often as much as the e90 m3s but these are getting old now so things will fail in time but great to see m3 videos again mate 🙂

Cheers Mike, such a simple job I was in two minds about making it but many years ago the ABS change one went down so well I figured it was worth doing 😬 Well on the E92 it’s a £450+ day out when the actuators fail so certainly cheaper on the e46 😅 but yea parts are getting old on them now! Have another few planned for the e46 over the coming months 👍

Ooo. Now I hoping mine is exactly the same trouble as yours. If it's not and I have to go and replace the one under the air box I won't know how because yours was fixed with just doing the top one. LOL.

Great video! Where do one find Recaro’s like those?
@stoneautomotive Жыл бұрын
Thanks 😎 The seats are the Recaro CS, you can buy them directly from Recaro or buy them from other model cars fitted with them from factory. Mine are from a MK1 Lotus Evora with custom base frames 👍

you have to change it with the battery disconnected and when you change it you have to reprogram or just change it and that's it

is this same for a m54 engine?
@stoneautomotive Жыл бұрын
I don’t believe it would be as the S54 runs individual throttle bodies on the intake for the TPS

Funnily enough mine has gone. (I think anyway). Limp mode comes up at traffic lights. Can’t deal with being in gear and idling. (Changed camshaft sensor, spark plugs etc, maF sensor/air filter and no joy. Reset the throttle settings and got the speed sensor code. Also had battery issues so reckon influenced a sensor fail. Sounds off too idling, just vibrates. Touchwood yours is all good now.
@stoneautomotive Жыл бұрын
Sounds like you have a pretty serious issue underlying on yours ☹️ I would suggest checking the compression (diy detailed on my e46 playlist) and run a Vanos system check to make sure it’s within tolerance 👍 Touch wood mine seems back to normal.. so far 😅

@@stoneautomotive about a month ago, going down a country lane and hit a deep puddle out of no where (night time, at a bend ms no chance to stop or slow ). 15 mins later, car just dies doing 70 on motorway. AA fella came and gave all the codes and mentioned compression funnily enough. I just thought cos the car died, it threw all the codes. Changed the fuel pump (bought a cheap one after mine went and assumed that) and then worked fine. Swear to god day before it went, I said to my other half “I just had the best drive in that”. Probably a goodbye then. Transmission cog comes on now, doesn’t even move forward, just reverses. Can clear the code and works again, until it disables. Have constant stream of dirty water at start up, looks like a puddle by the exhaust (isn’t oil or coolant, odd). Unless water in the system mucked it. When it first started randomly shaking at start up (best way to explain and a week after the water thing), had to drive home 2 hours away. Only could have it at 65/75, anything below shakes or above. Then limp mode once I came off the A Road, probably pushed it beyond. Ps my scanner only ever said 3 things ever, camshaft sensor, fuel/air mix too rich and the speed sensor when resetting my pedal. Obviously a cheap one. Anyone reading this, invest in a decent one, ha. Spent untold on it (just had steering rack and two new tyres) and at a 140k miles, think it’s time… 😫

@@ryan4372 sounds like it’s worth getting it into a specialist, paying for 1 hours diagnostics could save you hundreds/ thousands replacing parts. If it had happened when you hit the puddle it would point to a hydro locked engine which would idle badly/run rich if it’s bent a rod but as it happened 15 mins later it sounds as if something electrical got wet. Have you checked the DME box is dry? (Located on the back of the passenger side of the engine bay, 5 torque screws to open and check the connections are dry)
@ryan4372 Жыл бұрын
@@stoneautomotive very true. It’s funny you say that. When the car suddenly ran rough. I parked on a curb. Water still in places it shouldn’t be… I did feel something electrical at one point, e46s are super sensitive. When the AA fella came out, he tested the fuel pump and few other electrical things by taking the fuses out. Anyway, week later I went through just to make sure one hasn’t blown, two of the engine control fuses were the wrong way round, started thinking did that put pressure on the engine through out the week etc lol. I’ll have a look after work at the fuse box. Genuinely, thank you for the responses and feedback on the above, you didn’t have to and you’ve been super helpful!

Are you absolutely SURE those two actuators for the TPS's are exactly the same?? Are you?? LOL. BECAUSE "I" checked into this and it's NOT ALWAYS the exact same part in fact the one underneath has a piece of wire to reach the plug where it sits. HMM. OR!! Am I wrong because I haven't actually looked at mine physically yet to be so COCK sure about all of this and maybe I'm a big fat tool of a guy that will need to apologize to you after I finally do tomorrow IF i actually have to replace it. LOL. I hope you have a good sense of humor. LOL.
