BMW E60 / E61 Headlight Bulb Replacement DIY (Bi-Xenon LCI) 528i 530i 535i 545i 550i

This video shows you how to replace the low beam headlight bulb in a BMW e60/61 years 2004-2010 with the xenon headlight option. Subject car is a 2008 550i M-sport.
Bulb: OEM Osram-Sylvania D1S. This is the bulb that comes with the car at 4300k color.
Tools required:
Rubber gloves
Torx 25 and 30
8mm ratchet
Magnetic screwdrivers

Helpful guide but makes light removal and fitting look much easier than it was for me. Maybe there is a trick I was missing but a good 5 minutes to work out how to get the lights out and on one side it took 20 minutes to get the stupid thing back in and that was with someone who works on cars regularly helping. It is a job you can do at home but amateurs beware.

Is fl lamp removing different than pre fl? When i used to take pre fl lamp i had to take out rims to make space

Would this be the same set up as the 2013 BMW 528i xdrive? Haven't been able to see an exact video on youtube so far. This one seems the closet to it. Might be able to get at it without taking the headlight off.

That’s the next generation 5 series so I’m not actually sure if it would apply. That’s an F10 chassis and this video is for E60 2004-2010.

This is not how it's done. Lamp has a T shape underneath which is supposed to go into a guide on the square bracket lamp sits on. Impossible to align unless the bumper is dropped or the bracket itself is broken. Much easier to unscrew a few screws and let the bumper lean to some support underneath.

Yeah I learned the hard way. Ordered full headlight kit, and they were wrong. My light won’t go over the guide. I’m doing my struts this week so I’m gonna drop my front clip and do it right 😫😫😫

Headlight removal is same for all e60 models. However if you have a base model with halogen headlights then removing the bulb is little different, not harder though.

Yeah my Xenons are different. Different notching on the connection to the ballast at least
