Hi MM, just wanted to say a big 'THANK YOU'! - Been working on a 2012 BMW 1 series, 2nd generation 118i, which, amongst other issues, had a failed rear wiper/washer. No power coming from feed wire into wiper motor, although it worked when power applied directly with a 'Power Probe'. After much gnashing and wailing found your video and in particular your comment at 1:26 about 'it won't work if the tailgate is unlocked'.....Doh! All working now, just as Herr BMW intended.....Thanks a lot! Ken.

Good morning. I have a question for you. On which side of the flap do the wires to the rear wiper motor go? The wiper sometimes works, sometimes it doesn't work. When it works, it works very poorly and jams. The pin in the glass is not seized. Thank you for your help.

Still very unsure about how you diagnosed that with the multimeter. I'm also knee deep in tailgate woes. How do you repair coax?!?

_c_d_c So all I really confirmed was that we were not getting 12V at the wiper motor. What we should do is work back until we get power. My kit came with a replacement connector; it was a bit fiddly to say the least!! Good luck 👍

When you are testing your grounds with your red lead where do u have your black lead placed it's so frustrating when ppl aren't clear about their set up

So the problem was relay which responsible for rear wiper motor? What if relay is ok, then I should check wiper motor?
@MechanicMindset4 жыл бұрын
Yes, that’s right. There was a water leak in the boot of this car around 6 months before which was the cause

Hi mate, fantastic video, hopefully that's all it is in my case too. I've just bought an E61 with the same leak in the boot issue. Everything is effed - rear suspension, wipers, parking sensors. Whats worse is someone has already messed with the wiring and removed the automatic tailgate. How do I go about changing the looms as you said you did?
@MechanicMindset2 жыл бұрын
It’s quite an involved job! More than likely the loom is your problem. Literally cut and replace the loom at each hinge 😖

Weird question. I got a issue with wiper also, and weird thing is that if i plug computer and force to start it work, but when i try in car it won't. Does it also could be a relay? Cheers
