This machine is so unnecessary, expensive, a faff. The manual pump is a nightmare. Somebody has made a machine for no reason, just thought they found a solution to problem that can be replicated with DIY tools at home. You also need an expensive compressor.

Good video. Please could you tell me what the expected live data pressures should be for a good dpf from a differential pressure sensor on both idle and fast idle as well as from a exhaust pressure sensor (single pipe). We use e3 technical at work which often doesn’t give me this relevant information. Sometimes if the pressures are too low this could indicate a cracked dpf but not knowing how low is too low makes it harder to diagnose. Although black soot within the tailpipe is usually a giveaway.

In ireland a professional dpf cleaning is 180 euros. Or proble 150 pounds dpf removed and sent off. There are serveral stages cleaning a dpf apparently they say it takes 6 hours . Ultrasonic vibration and flushes are involved. Apparently high pressure water pushes the insulation surrounding the dpf out and possible the expensive metals also

If engine vibration plays a role in forming the waveform , so I think this test will be challenging and confusing if there is engine misfire due to non-mechanical internal failure ! , e.g : misfire due to ignition failure in one cylinder , which will reflect on the waveform behavior as it will create inconsistent waveform corresponding to the failed cylinder , due to engine unbalance I'm not sure if this will raise the waveform voltage value or decrease it , but I think it will be decreased opposite to the expected raise if there is head gasket leak It deserve an illustration video on the effect of misfire on coolant pulse waveform ! lets try it --- and we are waiting for your experiment !
@MechanicMindset2 күн бұрын
@@mahdiscope2545 So this measurement we show here, the voltage is set very low. If there is a problem, the spike will make the small oscillations look more insignificant. Plus, it’s best to do this test with relative compression to confirm the pulse is related to pressure loss 👍

These are a last resort as removing a dpf is labour intensive far better to clean on car and utilise a proper running vehicle to carry out its own clean. As said a blocked dpf is the symptom not the cause repair the cause first.

@@stephenwright5181 That might work ok for soot, but the ash can’t be pushed through the DPF, has to be cleaned like this 👍
@markobrien55512 күн бұрын
Don’t believe everything a salesman tells you, I get most DPF’s reading 0 to 3 mbar after a on car cleaning for £190 all done in 2 to 3 hours. Red and baish ash does come out once semi desolved, the glass type ash won’t come out and it won’t come out with that machine either. Ide say that procedure would cost around £800 all in with a under turbo DPF removal and take you off the road for around 3 days and no instant live data test drive afterwards to check for other underlying faults and don’t forget years of experience in working out what caused the DPF to stop regenerating in the first place. In my opinion if a garage started doing this service with out having at least 2 years DPF cleaning knowledge the DPF will probably be blocked again with in 400 miles due to novices not finding the underlying issue. Do you know that putting 5000 mbar of pressure through a DPF that has done nearly 1/4 million miles is a disaster waiting to happen, probably that what causes the flexi to blow. The things people will do for a free DPF clean.

@@arthurfricchione8119 Cheers Artie; yes diesel is still very popular here, but that is changing. Yes, removing the ash seems to have stopped the frequent regenerations. The flexi is part of the exhaust, but you can buy them and weld them on. I’m no welder haha!

Thank you! Really enjoy your channel. Late (new) starter at 73. Was a keen follower of mechanics to my mid 30's. Then, entered corporate rat race. Promised myself during boring corporate meetings, once I retire... Did just that with BMW bikes and computer based diagnostics. Then my car experienced random loss of power for a few seconds. After many scans, best I got was a quote of R39K for TB replacement without warranty. Got the Autel 808 at 30% of the aforementioned quote. Got stuck in and recorded live data. Eventually captured an incident. Charted the following with Autel. 1 APPS, Electronic TPS, Mass Airflow, Actual Engine Torque and Vehicle Speed. Analysed control signals of APPS and TPS on Excel. Control signals all ok. Then remembered, read somewhere in '80's about fatal accidents where simplistic APPS (rheostat types) sent faulty signal which resulted in runaway vehicles. Considering attached chart, decided to check brake light switch. Switch tested good. Readjusted the switch, voila, problem gone since then. 8 Months now. Used the savings to acquire a Pico 2205A, which got me following your channel. latest addition, a thermal image camera! Enjoy the new learning and your videos on the scope tremendously.
