Thanks for the run down. I have a bit of a smoky exhaust after about half an hour in traffic only. The right exhaust only. I recently change turbos and manifolds to F10 and machined the inlets to fit OEM fittings. Lots more midrange and sounds better. The smoke I am checking and thinking its either turbo start of problems or PCV valve. Now after watching your video I will check every vacuum line again just in case. Thanks.

what about the oil separator under the valve cover. only one side of my tubes to catch can is soaked with oil weird.
@E70MGarage Жыл бұрын
It's very uncommon for them to fail, and having only one side be collecting is normal - its because of how the PCV system is setup, there's a cross-over on Bank 2, that's why it catches the most.

Hey, thanks for the vids. I also installed catch cans on my E70 X5M. 5k miles after, I checked the cans and only bank 2 has some junk in it, about 1/4 full. Bank 1 is dry. Could this be normal? thanks for your input. Keep the vids coming.
@E70MGarage Жыл бұрын
Hey, yes - that's completely normal. It's because bank 1 and bank 2 intake manifold lines connect to bank 2, so that's where it catches most of moisture and gunk.

Can bad index 11 injectors wash down cylinder walls and dilute the oil in the sump? I know fuel inside oil is highly volatile.
@E70MGarage2 ай бұрын
If they're bad and leaking, absolutely - they can kill your engine. Fuel does make its way to the oil over a period, hence the shorter oil change intervals, the better it is for the engine.

So to be specific, with my x5 when its idling or driving in very low speed blue smoke comes out however if I pick up speed the blue smoke stops. Can u please give advice

Either the PCV system or vacuum leaks, BMW engines are very finicky when it comes to vacuum or crankcase pressure. 1. Inspect your PCV lines, they tend to become brittle due to heat cycles and break, if PCV lines are good. 2. Check PCV checkvalves - they tend to fail and lock in either open or closed position, you can clean them w/ brake clean, if that works it might save you $500 on PCV system. 3. Do a smoke test for vacuum leaks.

We’re you getting any codes?
@E70MGarage Жыл бұрын
PCV leaks throw an engine malfunction code (310B - Boost leak), which is when PCV lines are broken. In my case and most cases, there are no codes, but you can tell by how smooth the engine idles, etc.
