Today we upgrade our weak, and tired factory cooling system with an all aluminum radiator and dual electric rad fan setup from Yonaka! This thing is a beast through and through and totally out performs the OEM equivalent.

How can you implement the 3rd (thin wire; Fan Control Wire ) from OEM Fan Connector; You mention connecting it to the coolant sensor ; The Ground and Power is self-explanatory im guessing; but then the Yonaka dual fan would run all the time if the 3rd wire (fan control wire) is not wired... Could @Raine Lutz or someone else weigh in on this ? It looks like I'm not the only one; I want to use the dual fans but the 3rd fan control wire ?

Looks like a good options for e90 LS swaps. Most of those guys use OEM radiator but the space is much needed.

The stock radiator fan outflows the dual fan setup. Stock fan is about 3500cfm, Yonaka description from their website states 2300 CFM. Youd be better off just buying a upgraded radiator and using the stock fan.

Hey what is the advantage of using the Yonaka? And you mentioned that it be controlled on ignition. You made it look like this install was NbD. Thanks.

Awesome video, I am in the process of upgrading my radiator fan as well. How did you wire everything up using OEM wiring?
@spontaneousgiraffe

I had the Yonaka fans wired up with a relay and using the factory fan wiring triggered with the ECU signal wire and ended up swapping the factory fans back in since its my daily still and the Yonaka fans were a little louder than i was looking for. I would honestly recommend wiring them to a temp sensor so they aren't running all the time and it wouldn't be so bad but i just didn't end up going that route.

Can this fit the manual 6 speed version of the 335i on the yonaka site says it’s only for automatic transmission ?

It's frustrating that Yonaka calls this part a "Direct OEM fit", yet the part doesn't directly connect to the E90's OEM electrical connector, and Yonaka provides little information on how best to wire the fans, and no information regarding what to do with the thin Fan Control Wire. This video doesn't address how to wire the fans either.

Why is your coolant green? Any specific reason? Additives? Did you have to do any type of custom wiring or was it just put and pay?
@spontaneousgiraffe

So unfortunately the previous owner put in the wrong coolant, The green stuff is just a generic coolant for USDM vehicles. It is incorrect for a BMW so I made sure to flush it out and put the right coolant in. The wiring question is a little more difficult as there are two main ways to go with it. I first wired it in using the OEM fan plug to power a relay for the Yonaka fans. Doing it this way works great and is pretty easy however the Dual fans were pretty loud for my Daily driver setup. I found that the Yonaka radiator is super efficient and kept my 335 running nice and cool so I actually just swapped in the Factory rad fans ontop of the Yonaka radiator and haven't had any cooling issues since!

@@spontaneousgiraffe thanks. I had reached out that day and they were out of stock. I did find one out of Canada made by GPS Racing. Unfortunately they only installed one of the ports for the Automatic transmission. Worked a deal out for a partial refund and will now run essentially a manual trans radiator but will add a large trans cooler.

Up here in Canada I go through a company called street imports, they have a store front on eBay as well but yeah when they released these rads they sold out immediately so you might have to wait a bit unfortunately.

I might have missed it but how did you get power to the fans?
@spontaneousgiraffe
@spontaneousgiraffe 3 жыл бұрын
There are a few ways to wire them but i went with reusing the OEM fan plug to power a relay and wired them up that way with a signal from ignition in the near by DME box under the hood. I could make a quick video on that in the future if you want.
