I don’t even need to replace my steering knuckle, but I watched this anyway because you guys always make such high quality videos. I find that I almost always have a chance to learn something new from you guys. Thank you!

What would be symptoms of this steering knuckle needing replacement ???
@azdannyboi3 жыл бұрын
I am wondering the same thing 🤔
@brianlee6773 жыл бұрын
Hitting a curb or large pothole can damage the knuckle thus is the case of this car otherwise they don't need repair.

Original question says what are the symptoms, is there anyway to tell other than visual inspection?
@tyler97033 жыл бұрын
@@azdannyboi Right now, my car has a loose feeling to the steering and their is a metal-on-metal noise when load is shifted across the front axle (turning from one direction to the other). I'm not 100% sure if it's the knuckle, but I'm having it diagnosed on Tuesday.

@@azdannyboi If you keep blowing struts that’ll be a good indicator. You can also do some measurements of the knuckle and compare them to the opposite side.

In the Fx series wheel bearing is held by different screws (part number: 31206872920) with no pre-applied loctite. Do I need to change them anyway? Thank you.

I agree with you! I replaced the steering knuckle today on my daughter's 2013 328i and the wheel bearing screws were T60 head screws. Other than that, this video was spot on. Thanks for sharing this video, it was a tremendous help!

Gareth, any reasons NOT to apply a (very) thin amount of anti-seize compound to metal mating surfaces? In particular, the strut column under the pinch bolt surface area? I'm thinking about the next time you'd need to remove the knuckle. Thanks!
@fcpeuro3 жыл бұрын
Nope no reason not to Mario, you can apply some antiseize there no issue.
