Great video as always! You have to wonder what BMW were thinking when designing/fitting those felt pieces originally. There must be some reason for the two lumps sticking down either side, but for the life of me, after buying two sets of replacement ones at silly expense over the course of my e92 m3 ownership...I can't work out why.

Thanks and glad you enjoyed the video 😎 Agree I can’t understand the purpose of them, I know on the FX series they use rubber tabs that can fold I guess as a form of warning your getting close to the bumper/ under belly of the car.. who knows but glad it’s gone and I’ve gained some ground clearance 😬

I'd expect the bulges are there to direct air around the tyres. On a decently aerodynamic car the tyres are an inefficient area that benefit from air management.

@@Daniel-dg3np I haven't had a chance to add to my original response, but I thnk you're right. I asked a senior tech at BMW and that's pretty much what he said, elaborating that when the car is at speed, motorway, highway speeds, they serve to deflect forced airflow which can cause unwanted lift and potential light steering issues... sounds very plausible.

Nice. I just fitted the Mumbray one to mine last week. My car had 2 bars connecting the sump guard into another bar in the bottom of the bumper. I can't find any other pics/videos of another E9X M having these! I had to remove them as they were in the way of the new undertray. Hopefully i've not caused any issues by taking them out
@stoneautomotive2 жыл бұрын
That’s odd, maybe most have been removed in time as I’m sure mines been off a few times looking at the bolts

@@stoneautomotive maybe, although all the ones i've seen don't have the threaded holes to accept the screws for it. I'm thinking it was maybe an addition to late cars to address bumper sagging issues, or maybe some European safety legislation. Who knows! My logic is that mine will be fine if nobody else has it 😂

Looks great but think I’d swap out the bolts in the lower valance for button head bolts to both look nicer and avoid poss snagging on them , overall great improvement though.

Does the E92 M3 have hydraulic or electric steering ?? Test drove the M2 the other day and the steering was lifeless and had no communication at all. Always liked the E92 M3 also the E46.

Hydraulic steering on the e92 M3 👍
