Definitely the best explanation of this job that I have seen yet! Much appreciated!

Perfect job with fuel bleeding process included, so many miss this step and its critical to avoid damaging the high pressure pump.

I've been looking into this fuel filter change on BMWs with n47/n57 engines and I want to clarify some things for people who have questions about the process like I did. 1) First of all, switching the start button on and off, without starting the engine, doesn't engage the low pressure pump in the fuel tank. I've seen somebody do that with the fuel filter removed and nothing happened (no fuel came on the fuel line when the start button was pushed, no sound from the fuel pump either), confirming what other people said; 2) the fuel line that goes to the high pressure pump has a one way valve that prevents fuel from completely draining from the high pressure pump, if you open that line at the fuel filter (that's why you see just a small amount of fuel draining when you remove the filter); 3) diesel fuel has a lot of additives and is very oil like, that means it lubricates all the components it touches; this means that there is no risk for the high pressure fuel pump to create metal shavings through friction; 4) the bleeding procedure of the fuel system is absolutely required when this system has been fully drained, for example when the car run out of fuel and sat for a while or when the high pressure pump was removed or replaced; 5) even people who use the automatic bleeding procedure find that, sometimes, the engine doesn't start at the first or second try; 6) if you can't do the automatic bleeding, filling the fuel filter with diesel, before connecting it, is a handy way to ensure an easy and fast start of the engine.

Thanks for your input. We can all learn from eachother here. Glad to see someone has read the other comments and has watched the video in detail. This makes sense of everything I do to see that people are learning and sharing expert information. Probably one of the best and most comprehensive comments here on the channel🤝🏻

Important ! If you use ista to prime the filter you will need at least 20 liters of fuel i think, learned that the hard way.

How often do you recommend to change that filter? 30 000km is ok or too much? Thanks for all your F10 videos ❤
