That’s exactly right Matt, but I try and maintain with my cars paint correction about 80% sometimes 90 silver is just like that mine is ice silver metallic, Plus it’s a daily driver I finally came to that realization I think I’m just “obsessed” for me I get up in the early morning 4 am and I’m getting gas at a gas station and I look into my paint from those high pressure sodium lights and I don’t see Marring or scratches I’m not gonna touch it anymore !

I second your comments on the rock hard paint. I’ve just recently corrected my Alpine White M5 F10 using Shine Supply Chop Top on a Lake Country purple wool pad. This was using a Flex VRG primarily. This quite aggressive combination was quite effective at removing some of the heavy swirling that my car had. Worth a shot if you don’t feel like you’re getting adequate results on the 101 and MF pad (albeit on the Rupes machine which is obviously another variable).

Saw the title and watched just too see if you had the same problems I did. Polished my F10 a few weeks ago and it was a pita. Carpro clearcut and still could barely remove scratches. Clear coat is hard as. Ended up doing the same thing. Looks great but most scratches are still there. Lucky for me it's white so scratches are hard to see most of the time.
@JEDIwards
@JEDIwards 5 жыл бұрын
The end goal isn't to remove all the scratches, the end goal is to make the car look better. In this case, making it look better doesn't have to involve removing all the scratches, as is typical on other colors. Light scratches, haze, and marring, are what make a Silver car look dull. Simply removing those, without removing the deep stuff, is more than sufficient for even the most selective person on a color like this. If the haters want to hate, fine, but you are doing what's best for this car in terms of getting the look you want, and preserving as much of the clear as possible.

I feel your pain, I have a Vapor Silver Metallic Mustang. I tried to correct the paint but ended up at the same point as you. I decided i would just push compound around the whole car, polish it, seal it, and call it a day. My biggest disappointment is it really made the paint better but if you look hard enough, in the right light, with the right angle, and the stars are aligned just so, that one scratch just hopes all around the car LOL

This may already be somewhere in the comments- after you make a pass you can spray the pad with water (very little) to extend the working time of the 101. There's no need to try and find some correct ratio of 101 and 210...

CSL has very little to do with the "gloss." It's just topping what you achieved in the polishing stage. I would compound it off and then polish with a RUPES yellow pad and Sonax Perfect Finish.

For me I always wear a dusk mask when I compound and or polish when using a DA. The product you are using does make a ton of dust and that dust is really nasty when it gets in your lungs and it will put you at a higher risk of getting cancer. You may think you are not breathing it in but you are especially when you blow out the pads. If I were you I would wear a mask because this kind of problem will cause an issue a few years down the road and it is just not worth the risk. Have you ever thought of wearing a dust mask? I wear the 3M type with the two cartridges.
