I just wanted to say thank you for sharing this video and pdf. My bmw 1 series F20 only had ambient light (classic / sport) but no reading lights. Today I took the time to route the self-made wiring harness and install the LED dome lights. Coding with esys and everything worked right away. Keep up the good work! On to the next retrofit

@@chrisjones910 just follow each step in the video. Do not use too thick wires for the harness. Be gentle when bending the P shape connector at the Fem. Have some spare pins. Good luck

Successfully retrofitted these interior lights and i had the non sports light base version, this dude says it's for the sports light one but it doesn't matter which version you have, you just end up with less wires than this guy lol, if you follow the led interior light diagram you can do it more easily that the confusing mess this guy shows you. I just followed a russian blogger that did it that way and was far more easier and well explained unlike this video, coding can be done by Bimmercode so you don't need E-sys or any of that crap with a computer another thing this dude didn't mentioned. If you make retrofit video's make them 100% right and don't give people a confusing mess and then not answer their questions! If you're really that lazy to take a little effort to help others who are confused then take all your retrofits down and don't bother making them. If you make them to help people then take your time to reply on people that are stuck.

Hello! First of all, you made a brilliant job! Keep going with it pal. I have a BMW F20 from 05/2014. My car is not equipped with the light package but I want to install it. I find out that some FEM's are no compatible with the light package (I think I need to have at least a ZB6). My car has a ZB9_MID_EL FEM. As far as I know, It is compatible with the light package. What do you think? P.S. I don't know if it matters but my car already has can2 on idrive system and IHKA3 on the climate system (known as climatronic) from factory.

Hello and thank you for your comment. LED Dome Lights are compatible with your FEM. I have seen people installing LED Dome Lights on lower FEM's, so your is good to go.

I wish you could have showed how to release the dome light from the headliner. I have a rattle in mine and I want to take it down, but I'm afraid to break it. Are there clips? I haven't seen a video with this light assembly removal.

Hi. Yes, there are 2 clips that are holding dome light in place. There is guide on "bimmerpost" forum about removing both dome lights. Just google "bmw f30 how to remove dome lights" and there should be a direct link to the forum.

Hi. When you add 7AC and 563 options to the VO, go back to the Coding menu in the e-sys and then right click on the HU and click "Code", after the coding is done you will get the message in Green text that confirms you that coding is successful. hey man great video but i have a qestion, on my bmw 2015 f20 lci i have 563 lights pakage but only orange no "ambient" option and recently a saw a 2019 f20 who had ambient option but also the footwell was iluminating the colour orange or blue in the dark, not only when i open the door like in mine so i'm am curious if i can upgrade the footwell with oem ambiental to work with the rest of the car, is it posible or i have to tear the car down?:))))

Hey, it looks like you might be the person who knows how to fix my problem. I have an F31 without Light Package. The dome light works fine (comes on when the doors open) but the central light switch does nothing. Could it be a faulty light or some fuse / FEM problem? Where to look first?

Hello, I have the non LED version and want to do the retrofit, my pinouts are different from yours, I have originally a 6 pin connector with only 4 wires in it. I already figured it all out, but I don't have a wire coming from the point 58g connector, do you know where can I found the nearest point to go get it?

Don't even try to waste time on it, i want bright leds too and after seeing it needs this amount of effort to just get some bright leds, i no longer want to change them.

@@goncalopeixoto1 I generally don't like messing with cables surely not when i still have warranty on the car. I'd rather replace the entire unit with a led dome light which would not fit without modifications.

@@goncalopeixoto1 I just did this too and the interior lights stay on, when the ignition is off you can't even turn them on manually, they only work great when ignition is on. I doubt anyone has them working succesfully the oem way.

Ace320 thanks for replying, so all the lights work apart from the middle light in the rear dome and also the ambient light in the rear doesn’t work, I’m pretty sure the wiring is correct thanks

@@liam3694 Try to disconnect the battery and connect it back and see does the rear dome light work. If not, try to disconnect and re-connect rear dome light. Sometimes ECU's in the car don't communicate with new stuff, even if the wiring is correct.
