BMW F800GT [2014-] REAR SHOCK ABSORBER P1 REMOVE + PROBLEM...!

I had to remove the rear shock absorber for a new ( lowered ) spring..
BUT then I discovered a REAL PROBLEM. I am sure that this F800 isn't the only one with
this INVISABLE PROBLEM..
OFCOURSE The Old Mechanic had to come up with an affortable solution..!

I bet that bike had a vibration problem, and now you have fixed it

One of the reasons why I recently bought this bike is the easy way of working on it. Very helpful videos. Mine have a strange noise in belts... Or at least I think so. When standing of it center stand, I hear something inside the rear wheel.. as if it had a small ball inside. Bike works fine. Sometimes sounds from the sproket in the front; at the other side of the belt.

So shock top mounting bush has disintegrated ! Is it a high mileage bike or a known bmw problem? strange.

Hi Tim, the bike has just over 60.000 km behind the wheels, so not that much I would say. When I looked on the internet I came on a motorcycle boneyard website, and they had several F800GT (ESA) rear shocks with exactly the same problem.. The problem is that you allmost can't see it, because of the way its mounted at that side of the bike.. Greets from The Old Mechanic
