BMW flees from Trooper Morris - ends up with PIT / TVI Maneuver into the wall at 128 MPH!

Trooper's Report:
On 8-26-23, at 11:45 P.M., I stopped a black B.M.W. passenger car with Tennessee drive-out tags on the entrance ramp
from MLK Jr. Drive to I-40 eastbound, for having a headlight out. As I approached the passenger side of the car, the driver
suddenly put the vehicle in gear and fled the stop location.
As I ran back to my car, I advised Troop D Communications that I was in pursuit of the vehicle that I had just stopped. The
vehicle fled eastbound on I-40 at a high rate of speed, more than 100 miles per hour, and began weaving in and out of traffic,
almost striking other motorists. As we approached the 283-mile marker, I moved in for a T.V.I. and positioned my patrol vehicle
where I could make contact with the right rear of the suspect vehicle, by using the front left of my patrol vehicle. As soon as I
had an opportunity, I executed a T.V.I., which made the suspect vehicle rotate in a clockwise motion, striking the outside
concrete wall, and disabling it.
Once other units arrived on the scene, there was no movement in the suspect vehicle. We moved in to arrest the driver, and
that is when contact was made with Damon Jones. Jones was removed from the vehicle and taken into custody without
incident. The vehicle was inventoried, but I was unable to find any paperwork on the vehicle or valid insurance. When I ran the
driver's information, it showed his driver's license was suspended.
Jones was transported to the Crittenden County Detention Center where he was advised of his court date and time. The
vehicle was towed by B&D Towing.
Damon Jones' charges are as follows:
Defective Headlights,
Reckless Driving,
Speeding More Than 15 Over,
Fleeing (Felony),
Failure to Register a Vehicle,
No Insurance, and
Driving on a Suspended License.

It's because the suspect wasn't driving a vehicle that was built for speed. That's the only reason why the cop was able to catch up to him so easily. If the suspect was driving a Dodge Challenger Hellcat. Than the cop would never have had a chance to catch him, unless if the suspect was willing to drive slow

I’ve seen videos here where Arkansas Troopers stop at the Tennessee line and a video where a Texas State Trooper chased a dude probably in the neighborhood of 50 or more miles into Arkansas… Departmental procedures and policies as well… Mutual aid, state agreements etc…

From watching a lot of these videos, seems like ASP will chase into most surrounding states and those neighboring police agencies will pick up the chase and assist. Going into Memphis seems to be a no go though. Guessing that the politics in Memphis mean that they don't get any assistance with a chase into Tennessee in that city, so they tend to stop chasing at that particular border since they won't be receiving any assistance from the local police. (Not a dig at the cops, it's all policy bullshit that politicians control) Understandable since they could easily find themselves super deep into an area with no real backup to speak of.@@Natediggetydog

They never cease to amaze .... intentionally flee after the trooper is clearly at his most vulnerable to chase, run it up to 128 m.p.h, then try to act innocent of the whole thing. I don't know if these ppl invent ways to create the havoc, but run at these speeds, then think that all is good, and it's all going to magically go away. Of course I'm sure I heard him mumble something to the trooper from the back seat about his phone. Sitting there facing felony charges, a destroyed car, after 128 m.p.h. PIT into a concrete wall, and we're worried about a cell phone. I try to keep close tabs on mine too .... I understand that they're pretty important to us all ..... but under these circumstances? What makes anybody ever think that they're going to outrun and outmaneuver these trained officers in the first place. All over (probably a warning ticket). To this hotshot genius, my heartfelt congratulations ...... to this trooper, my sincere thanks for what you do day after day. Kudos and Blessings to each of you.

This guy chose to crash into that wall at 128 mph. If he would have driven at any other speed, he would have hit the wall at that speed instead. Him hitting the wall at 128 mph is a direct result of him driving 128mph. Maybe next time run from the cops at 60mph instead, and your car will only hit the wall at 60mph.
