BMW Getrag 420 MM ultimate transmission rebuilds (Part 1)

Metric Mechanic has been rebuilding BMW manual transmissions since the early 80s. Aside from replacing consumables such as synchronizers, bearings and springs we’ve also developed machining steps to help synchro mesh. MM transmissions are known for harder shifts. Thanks for the question Brintech Customs but that is proprietary information. We don’t sell tools for dissembling transmissions. Sorry about that. The intention of this video was to illustrate the skill and effort we make in rebuilding the Getreg 420. Thanks for watching and we will release part 2 and an install in the coming month.

@@metricmechanic Awesome video , got myself a unit with bad 3/4th syncros. Shame you're on a different continent than me or i'd have you guys check it out. Gonna have to buy a used one and maby ill give it a try to disassemble this one and maby learn something Do all the 420's match up to different E's bellhousings ? ( apart from the smg units missing parts) Cheers from sweden :)

What’s up brotha, I’m having issue with the gears when shifting into 4th, it jumps right back to 3rd a few consecutive time and goes into safe/limp mode. And then after, the car will drive and just stay at 3rd... This is a 2005 Bentley Continental Gt but it has the bmw mechatronic type transmission. Let me know what you think please...any response will be appreciated!
