BMW i3 car review

We have been driving the I3 without the range extender since 2014. We are all very pleased indeed with the handling and acceleration and the comfort is just fine. Range is reduced in winter in Sweden to c 108km but then we use the X5 hybrid for longer trips. Well done bmw hurry up with the X 3 electric.

Better then most... Please BMW build a FUEL CELL Version next and Sooner rather then later ! Oh and sliding doors like the Peugeot 1004 would be a lot better in tight spot car parking !

Lots and loads of car manufactures have learnt from the LaFerrari's adjustable steering wheel and pedals, but you have still been able to move the seat unlike the LaFerrari, resulting in a higher centre of gravity.

When bmw make an all electric car that looks like a their current line of cars i.e. good, then I will jump at the chance to get one. But as long as the i3 still looks like it does now its a total no-go for me.

You see, that's wrong with a most motoring journalism in the UK; journalists seduced by high spec versions supplied FOR FREE by the car companies. "Available from..." is the headline and "price as tested..." very much the footnote. But "the extra justified" may just not be affordable for some, do you ever consider that? The i3 is a ridiculously overpriced car in the UK, hardly going to mobilise the masses is it? Very clever technology I know, but it's easy to be clever when you charge (no pun intended) so much. I'm sure McLaren could make the most amazing electric car, but it would cost £500,000. More relevant to the problems we face would be a used Nissan Leaf, but that doesn't meet with journalists high standards of "perceived quality" does it? Not nearly clever enough. Can we imagine the modern motoring journalist reviewing the Model T or the Honda c90?

I know I'm from the future here, but wtf is this car. It has a generator in the back as a range extender. Lol that is the stupidest thing ever. Hybrids are worse than gas and worse than electric in every way. This is not technically a hybrid as it is back up, but instead of a generator, how about more batteries? The technology to go vertical with a battery exists and is EXTREMLY common practice. The Tesla Roadster did it. Adding a generator is like adding an inefficient engine. It converts gas to energy with more loss in heat and vibration and it converts it to electricity which already has some loss, so it is like exponential loss. Making more pollution and less range.

E-cars are ugly, mostly interior is gruesome. it's like they are trying to develop a new visual aesthetics just for e-cars, it looks like some futuristic thing they had going in the early 80's. So it doesn't look new or anywhere close to contemporary at all. They should just stick with what looks conventionally nice, just because its electric doesn't mean it has to look weird or "new" in any sense.
