great video. I owned one new in 2017 and loved it. Was making longer trips 2x a week and got range anxiety and sold it for a tesla. Thinking about a used i3 as a cheap car to run around town. HOW LONG do these batteries usually last? Is it based on age or mileage? I am sure they degrade and the listed range could be cut in half depending on age. ANY info on this? Thanks

it is based on both, plus usage patterns: was it charged to > 80 % and left sitting full for long periods of time, especially during summer? was it left sitting in the cold with < 20 % in winter? was it fast charged often (if fast charger is installed)? degradation over time will mostly be influenced by the state of charge if it was between 20 and 80% most of the time, expect little degradation. cyclic degradation is mostly based on mileage, but will vary greatly depending on whether fast charging was used.

Another question, I hope you know the answer: do you have any idea why my 2016 BEV only has a Type2 plug and no DC fast-charging connectors? I basically got scammed since I failed to notice this when I bought it. Is this some kind of prototype version?

I’m pretty sure ALL i3 had fast dc charging in US. Where are you located?

@@SimpleCarGuy ye, I based my research on US-based videos and I thought so too, but in Europe apparently it was optional. I’m in Portugal but bought an i3 imported from France. It took me 16h to make a 450 km trip, since I had to wait around 3h for every 90km in public chargers at ~4kw. Unbelievable

Mine is now showing the menu. After the reset prompt appears, if I continue pressing as you suggest in the video, it goes back to the regular dashboard and nothing else happens. What am I doing wrong?

@@denko Hey, I was able to make it work and I believe that the car needs to be ON, or in "Ready" mode, and not completely off/on. I don't remember exactly.

OMG, I love your videos. I also have the exact same car, wonder if you did the expense lithium battery check at the dealer after 8 years mark ? I mean for 2016 this model, what should the battery show when first purchase ? 18 kw or 22 kw? I am confused
