Mat’s lining up in the Audi RS5, and he’s going head-to-head against the all-electric BMW i4 M50!
Trust us, this is going to be closer than you think! The Audi RS5 is packing a 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 under the bonnet, which is good for 450hp & 600Nm of torque. But in comparison, the BMW has two electric motors which combine to produce 544hp & 795Nm!
Think the BMW might walk it? Well, think again! You see, while the Audi tips the scales at 1742kg, the BMW is SO much heavier, weighing in at 2,215kg!!

I have to say that versus an electric, that RS5 launched pretty damn well. Usually electric cars are way down the road before the petrol engined ones get off the mark. Love the sound as the BMW hits the limiter. Top work there!

As an owner of a 2022 RS5 I will say the launch on this car is bonkers. I was totally surprised how hard it launches. I'm able to regularly record 3.4 sec 0-60.

@@davidburkinshaw209 the weight isn’t really an issue. Look at the common rival cars (M3/M4, C63) and they all have big power advantages being over 500HP compared to the RS5. If they upped the power of the RS5, it would be quicker than the RS6 and RS7 which would mean they would become pointless unless they do the same to those cars but that will then have an effect on the R8. I think Audi are turning their heads away from performance and are focusing on technology with the electric car market getting bigger and bigger everyday - their new electric cars in the works are crazy!
