What will win between a RWD Audi R8 V10 or an AWD BMW M5 Competition? Well, let’s find out!
Let’s start with a look at the stats… Starting with the R8, it’s powered by a 5.2-litre naturally-aspirated V10 that can deliver 570hp and 550Nm of torque. It powers the rear wheels only, and it tips the scales at 1,590kg. It’s expensive, mind, setting you back at least £132,000.
And then we have the BMW. It’s housing a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 under the bonnet, which is good for 625hp and 750Nm. As you’d expect, it’s heavier than R8, weighing in at 1,895kg. However, this one’s equipped with AWD, and this model is a fair bit cheaper than the Audi, costing £60,000.
So how will this play out - will the naturally-aspirated sports car snatch the win? There’s only one way to find out - LET’S RACE!

R8 has an impressive launch considering it's a RWD. The M5 is equally impressive in that it really is as close to a supercar in performance with the everyday practicality of a family sedan. If you floor an aspirated high revving engine such as de Audi, you cannot start from 3rd at 4000 rpm, the tork comes in the higher revs, thats why the audi gains in the quarter mile and gets dropped in the rolling race. Should've gone in second gear for that
