iDrive 9 and 8.5 are nearly identical as far as UI. But will try to test the same feature in a car with OS9

Not unless you have the proper head unit which is all based on the production month/year

Regeneration config would have been simple with one or two physical buttons on the steering wheel to change instantly.. Just imagine you wanted to change it on the go.... It wouldn't be possible.

True. You can only change from D to B mode via the gear selector
