One year owner of the EQS 580. After three Teslas & a GV60, must say it more than meets my needs on a variety of uses. I like to characterize it as a great alternative to a SUV! Plenty of room in the trunk & ease of use with the hatch-back. My 2022 in ideal conditions @ 100% charge will almost always get to 400 or more miles. Of course, like the OOS guys I do try to maintain a 70 mph trip rate. Winter temps do take the mileage total down, but still over 300 range compared to GV-60 which was under 200 @100% in the winter. The car is a really quiet & smooth ride & handles our beat-up New England roads quite well. Only complaint on the wheel & tire configuration is 20” would be even better as already blew out a tire on the 21” wheels. Do miss camping mode & dog mode on the MB. Also MB is not that great in any significant software tweaks. In my ownership time, no service issues to date. Don’t miss the frequent visits to the dealer for the ICE cars for usual maintenance. Yeah, glad I purchased a CPO & not new as depreciation is brutal on these & most electric cars currently. Would suggest that would be best pathway for ownership other than leasing.

Had my first EV experience at the weekend. Needed a small van to pick up a Himiway long range e-bike. Got given a Mercedes e-Vito medium van with 60kw/h battery pack and 84kw charging. Provided by the rental company with 23 miles of range. 15 miles and 35 minutes later, got 102 miles more. Later that day and 30 minutes, added another 80. Sunday initially was a nightmare, early / small rural charging stations 4off, (2x50kw) and were members only. EV dot wouldn’t even accept a 20 digit apple password as being too simple?????? Hypermiled the last 11 miles to a main road charger, got there with 3 miles to spare, no tortoising. 15 minutes later, got 52 miles, enough to get to my appointment at 11:30 am. Then ran it to the country, ran out of range, 40mph limited performance and no miles, 0-165 miles in 75 minutes and £50. Got home with 16 miles to spare. On the whole, good experience, ropey old / early adopted charging stations. Can still surprisingly traverse deepest and darkest Wales through the mountains. Furthermore, not one queue, at least three changers vacant on both days. 😎😇

Since I am also waiting for the next generation of EV’s I took a shorter lease, so I can upgrade to the next level of technology for my next car. @bighit201003 ай бұрын
@@martinekstrom6303 Well I think they have done an excellent job, maybe not in your eyes but thats because you purely look at it from a consumer perspective. If you think about all the intricacies that go into a platform development and company profitability, they need to make choices. They need to balance out development costs and customer needs and find a middle ground. I believe thats what makes this car a success compared to it's direct competitors like the EQS. The EQS is a full EV platform from the ground up, but nobody is buying the car... i can find EQS's at my local dealer on the lot, with 0 milage, for about 20-30% off the new price... and these are unused... they even have a temporary promotion right now that they will include 1 year free fast charging, and even then they hardly sell... Even Mercedes CEO said they will stop with the EQS entirely due to its bad sales and make a shared platform with their regular S-class, which is exactly what BMW already has done with it's 7-series. And indeed numbers dont lie, the sales figures speaks for its self. And if you are going to compare a Tesla or Rivian to a 7-series than you have completely misunderstood the target audience of this car. The "better" car is in many ways a subjective reasoning, what might be better for you, might not be better for someone else. But looking at the sales performance of the BMW i7 compared to it's direct competitor EQS and we get a good feeling what the target audience things is the better car...

Both are atrocious looking. But I will say some of the range increase comes from the ~7% larger usable capacity (101 in the bmw and 108 in the benz). Either way the EQS seems to be the better road trip car. Both are ultra luxurious. The i7 looks more bold and has some other extra features like powered doors and the rear screen, but I don't think it's worth the extra price. On the used market EQS are like under 50K while the i7 seems to have held it values better (it's also 2 years newer though). For most people the EQS will probably be more practical and usable. So what I dont get, in your initial EQS range test you pulled off the highway after 337 Miles and you were at 2% back then. This time, you got to 406 miles with 1% So in this video you got about 20% more range out of the EQS. Why do you think that is? Link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/f4LZeZd_n9R8gM0

These tests should be done till 5%, no one is going to drive that low

That is literally the whole point of this test. It's to push it to the absolute max so you can understand what the theoretical performance limits are for these cars. That gives prospective buyers or owners the information they need to explore those single digit SOC levels

I wouldn't get either of these 2 cars over the CyberTruck lol

I rented a BMW iX in Europe, did a 4000mile roadtrip, hated the fact it drops charge speeds down to 30kWh after you've charged 5 times a day, what a joke. Never renting a BMW again for roadtrips.
@bighit201003 ай бұрын
Are you for real? The iX has an average range of about 320 miles, so you telling me you did at least 1600 miles in one day?! The normal highway speed in europe is about 100 km/h so about 62 miles an hour, divide that on the 1600 miles you claim you did a day, you are driving NONSTOP 25 hours a day… You are clearly a liar and BMW hater lol

Liar
@F1travels3 ай бұрын
@@bighit20100 why would I lie about that? It’s what bmw’s do, clearly you have never road tripped one. They can only be fast charged 5 times a day, then after that it slows to 30kw charging and needs a 48hr rest period. Or one level 2 charge and then it resets. Go try it out lol
@bighit201003 ай бұрын
Buddy, you are liar. You said after 5x charging. The car itself goes around 320 miles on a full charge. This means you have driven 1600 miles in one day? The average speed on European highways is around 62 miles an hour, so you drive 25 hours non-stop a day? Or do you charge the car every 10 miles? Or you are a liar, or you have brain rot and misused the vehicle immensely.

@@F1travels you said 5 times a day. The iX has a range of around 320 miles. So you have charged about 1600 miles worth a day. Average speed on European highways is 62 miles per hour, which means you must have driven around 25 hours nonstop a day? Or did you charge every 10 miles?
