Public-charging infrastructure is so bad in the USA now (outside of Tesla, whose superchargers really aren't spread out enough, either, but at least they work for Teslas -- if not for non-Teslas) that I will not roadtrip without planning to charge around 30% SoC.... 10% SoC, or even 20% Soc is too dicey today, with CCS charging stations too far apart and not reliable even when you're at one. At least with this range of 365 miles, I can (with my 30% plan) seek out charging stations with 100 miles still in the "tank", and going to 20% (70 miles left) isn't so scary as it is with most current BEVs including the pre-2025 Taycan. In my 2021 Taycan, 10% is only 15-25 miles at best at highway speeds, and that's way too risky with the infrastructure as it is now.

Hey Kyle, please make a video with a high millage Taycan that was DC charged at least 20-30% of its life, i'm really curious what's the degradation like. I mean did Porsche discovered something that the rest of automakers didn't? Hard to believe, battery tech its the same, my guess it has just a spectacular cooling system that keeps the battery at the perfect temps. But that doesn't mean the battery is not affected by that huge charging speed.
@computercrack24 күн бұрын
fast DC charging as basically no issue if there are certain conditions met like temperature etc. What the batteries dont like is being charged to 100% or next to empty and left there for a long time. Charge up to a 100% right before the Trip only and the batteries will last "forever"

I really like watching your videos about Taycans, but a little tip. There are a lot of people watching them in Europe, couldnt you show both miles and kilometers when showing the result? About the gearbox, i think its wonderful they kept it, it gives the car so much ”feeling” and its much easier for old school drivers (like myself) to feel the car. Just like they didnt go for the one pedal drive. It takes away the sportcar it is, and the natural feeling we are so used to. Really like the sportsound aswell, as i understand it, it ”follows” the car (again as i understand it, its the modified/amplified sound of the motor)? Those are things that make the transition easier and more natural :) Another thing i really like, is the fact they dont have oversized ipads in the middle. Due to healthissues, i lack the coordination in my right hand, so i cant use them. Taycan on the other hand, has a good size and support for the hand :) The wheeltesting part would be interestimg, and i think desired. Hope you will do some range testing on the lowtrim Cross Turismo soon aswell🙂 Thanks and greetings from Sweden

The battery pack is not a cylinder design and may have degradation if it was like the GM batteries.... if you use what is a given to make a battery and add in carbon alignment for more density of electrons within the pack with a good dielectric cooling process using the same carbon tech then you got a higher density battery that doesn't degrade over time... should be able to get 150K ish miles pending the tech design of that carbon tubes and the conjoining components you should be good for that distance in mileage driven in time... its a lot more wordy than what I am stating here but they do have good battery tech in the vehicle but it could be better.... can't wait for 10000 V and it charges within 2 minutes.... get 2000 miles on a charge.... got a while for that to happen because any company coming out with that don't have the infrastructure in place to even charge a very higher density battery of that capacity...because these batteries aren't that large but have a higher capacity of storage.... if you saw the 3 bodies tv show... one of the physicist came up with the thinnest carbon nano tubes that can cut through a ship... in batteries if you make for a great alignment of electrons in batteries, with that tech, would mean less battery packs needed in the vehicles and more room on the inside of the vehicles at a lighter weight... or batteries in semi trucks that can do long distances costing about 2Ms per truck for the current times due to the lack of infrastructure today... but in the future if this trend continues vehicles should be of plenty and cheaper....hopefully.... the only company I can see benefiting from that battery is Tesla since they have the infrastructure already in place.... just have to make sure they can handle discharge and heat so no fires will happen....LOL

Range is Not the Problem but costs : if we wish affordable EV cars we need 50 kwh batteries with 300 miles range or batteries with half of the volume it takes for storage of electrical energy serving 25000 $ cars . Besides this technical problem of energy density of actual lithium batteries we have to compare costs of energy without taxes , a lot of operational costs comparaisons between ICE cars and EV are done on actual market prices meaning price of 1 kWh at home or public charging with 1 gallon from gas stations . However state and federal taxes on electricity and gas are not comparable at all . Here in Europe I.e. we have 65 % federal taxes plus VAT on 1 liter of regular however only 2,4 % plus VAT on electricity on home charging . So the whole EV stuff is so government driven that it makes me doubtful to go for EV even though there are beautiful cars on the market like this Taycan. I will wait till the end of.Any investment bin an EV besides leasing does not make sense.

Yes the Porsche is nicer but I'll admit the Model 3 Performance with its new suspension, motors, etc make it appealing. Still gets decent range too. What's so difficult to understand and accept this fact dude??? Why is this so "intellectually challenging" for guys like you?? Hey you clown: A Ford Mustang really isn't a horse! And a Lucid really isn't made of "air"! By the way: still wondering and criticizing about the "turbo" letters on a PORSCHE Taycan after six years on the market, just shows, that you don't understand an electric PORSCHE at all! Dumb! Dude!
@jeffs609026 күн бұрын
@jamfamreptiles1286 It used to a long time ago. Then, a few decades when other lesser engines were also turbocharged, the "Turbo" name was designated for the top trimmed, faster turbocharged model. Then, "Turbo" just means the higher trim/more power, like "limited" for other brands, since there's GT3 etc that are faster and more expensive/exclusive. It's more of a heritage type name now, so even with their new EVs, they want to keep that name going. The "Turbo" EV will just be the faster, more powerful one.
@johnpoldo881726 күн бұрын
While not a Porsche expert, I believe all of their vehicles with Turbo name have a turbocharger. Therefore, turbo is synonymous with that hardware. Labeling an EV with turbo name is inaccurate and wrong.
