BMW i8 Roadster 2019 1st Drive and Impressions

Does the BMW i8 Roadster need a V8 or is it cool being a PHEV !

I very much enjoyed driving the i8 - the low speed manoeuvrability was maybe the biggest surprise when moving around tight spots... a most excellent car

My thoughts are that with the 2nd exhaust pipe although the sound comes from the engine and is enhanced is that it is _duplicating_ the actual engine tone making the 3 cyl 1.5 Mini Cooper engine sound like a traditional BMW 6 cyl engine. It does sound that way to my ears, sounds good though. I also wonder, bearing in mind that they share the same engine, how much of the i8 engine/electric kit is shared with the Mini Countryman PHEV too and also the potential tuning qualities in the Mini. It’s early days but looking forward to seeing what more can be had out of the Mini performance wise.

A V8/10 would ruin the concept ! It is M4 quick an so very easy to maneuver in town compared to hyper cars!

I think its a very misunderstood car and the fact it is no longer made is ashame

Would have very much put it in the same segment as the Audi R8 , the engine from the M5 competition would have been perfect but I do love it for what the car is 😊
