on mine i have a flickr app, i thought wow does that mean I can have other apps too....there's no info on updating or upgrading the drive, bmw, are useless too, you message them online - 'please visit a bmw garage' always the reply

Not sure - although we've seen iDrive retrofit to older BMWs before so it may be possible. Perhaps check forums?

This system is good but bmw is as a company garbage, they charge extra for speed information that’s fking icon 320 euro any other car I have own is on by default , the app is useless if you don’t have remote connect , bmw has set it up if you have the base connected drive 69 euro still you can acces any info on you car , if you want the option of tuning on you headlights, honk you horn, close you car need to pay extra 39euro ridiculous any app you choose extra it will cost you +- 40 eu ..... I own a 320d for two week now I’m sooo disappointed a fking 54 thousand eu car wtf ..... this will be my fist and last BMW

The coolest feature of the ConnectedDrive App is that you can turn on the *air conditioner* and actively cool the car... if it happens to be electric. ;)

I kinda giggle at this because.... My Chevy already does most of these features (except for the outside camera view of the car, that was cool.) But other than that, OnStar for the win! So, hopefully these features aren't the main reason for anyone buying a BMW.

Most of these features are included on the 2012 idrive edition and up, most of it is a fresh up. Also OnStar cost money monthly for remote start etc. The only BMW app feature that cost money is remote parking, which is where you can control the car outside of it, another thing not included in OnStar. Not to mention the insane amounts of features that the car has that General Motor cars do not. Let's not forget the delay it takes for remote star with OnStar. Why can't I control the cars temperature on start up with the app like with BMW,? Why can't I move the car out my garage without being in it? Why can't I allow other people to use my car without a key if need be? Why can't I locate my in a big parking lot? Why do I have to pay for this stuff? This is coming from someone who owns a Cadillac Escalade 2018 Platinum. The fact that a 2012 M6 will have next gen wifi charging in it's package line up as a standard (So can charge a iPhone x) and Cadillac 2012 to 2017 still not be able to support the same technology is dumb. Shows how outclassed they really are. I could list endless amount of features included in German cars that are not in "OnStar" (GM) cars if you'd like. At this point GM just waits for a German car brands to create technology, waits 4 years and then installs it. My 2018 car still doesn't have the adaptive headlights German cars do, which was tech made back in 2012. The 2020 model is suppose to get them. 8 years for integration of technology. It's dumb as hell, I don't know why you would want to support them. You have to PAY for remote star, you know how insane that sounds? You purchase a 80k car, and now you have to PAY for features that 2012 cars get for free?! Even the remote parking feature is free for the first 4 years on BMW, Benz even gives you free data for 5.

Well. Where is stored destination location list? Before you set up to the long road trip with multiple destinations will be easier to do that once and then just pick location from the saved list. Like it is in VW. I'm currently have BMW G30 and sadly there is no such option.

Chatta290 no the recent destination list is different. If want to go for a long drive in the next few weeks (planning ahead) then you want to have destination stored for quick access. Recent destinations list will have your holiday destination (if you want to store them) but your current destination before holiday as well so all together it will be a long and mess up list hard to use. On previous holiday I needed about 20 or slightly more destinations in the specific order. It was in France and Spain so I dont want to check on the map all the time is that city my next destination or not.

It's a simulation from many cameras mounted externally. The car you see in the view is not the real car. It's animation.

Im quite happy with the bmw over all but a lot of the features are pointless to me. When are they going to do something that is useful. Id like to be able to access my history of my speed to check a speeding ticket that comes through the mail. Id like to see on the heads up what the current speed limit is and give a warning if im over it. Id also like the voice recognition be able to access the speed limit warning. Id like voice recognition to work the cruise control. I have an X3 and the wind noise in the car if one of the windows is down a little is so horrible. They should come with window wind deflectors. Also storage is really bad for women in the car - theres no where to put my handbag except on the floor of the passenger seat. Theres also no where to put my sunnies. I think BMW could have thought the car out a little more.

Agreed that some of the tech are pointless. It's about cool factor and bragging right. The definitely useful feature you will never have is a front and a rear dash cams even the car got all the hardware to support it. You do have the option for speed limits. I think it is standard for 2019 MY.

Gonzarelli it’s not plastic, it’s real wood. It’s just polished to a high degree. Have a look inside a RR, or a high-end BMW or Merc or Bentley, you’ll see what I mean. BTW: you can get so-called “open pore” wood as well - no sheen on that but more difficult to maintain. You don’t like wood? No problem, BMW has you covered with aluminium trim in several variations, too...
