BMW iX1 Adaptive LED problems - update #2. Back from workshop, fixed or not?

Today my BMW iX1 has been the whole day at the workshop for tests and upgrades about my Adaptive LED lights that don´t work as they should.
Did they manage to fix them or not?

I took my new iX1 with adaptive LEDs out for a quick drive in the dark last night. The spread of light was very good especially lighting up the curb but it was very slow to dip after main beam was engaged for a while and a car approached. This happened a few times but surprisingly nobody flashed me. I will try it again over the weekend. I'm in SW France. Chris.

Hello What size wheels do you have please? Could you confirm your range, good and bad, I think you have a video on this? My dealer confirmed a June build last Friday, today he says May, delivery June, so I'm keen to get as much background information that I can Best regards Mark

Pretty bad that a software issue is affecting the functioning of essential hardware.

It’s a new car so I think it’s not so uncommon.

I drove my son back from Carcassonne last night, around 25km and both he and I studied the operation of my Adaptive headlights on my iX1. (He’s Tom Wheatley, car photographer)Always they provided good light and only showed the dipped symbol on the dash when driving in areas with street-lighting. Any other time the blue tell-tale was illuminated even when cars were coming the other way. Again, nobody flashed me so I presume the matrix operation keeps the lamp on main-beam but removes the offending part of the beam that would dazzle an oncoming driver ? Very clever. So I'm very happy with the performance of my iX1 lights.

I am sure they are just as good as on other BMW:s I had if they work as they should. But it doesn’t on my and many other iX1.

It’s probably my car that is the second iX1 with lighting issues at M-Bilar Västerås. Similar problems as you, most notably very sluggish high beam assistant but also static lights in corners and curves. I did not rule out user error but I do not know what more to do than to turn on the automatic functions.

Hopefully they find a solution because also the range of especially the high beam is not good at all now.

Just compared your recent videos with German friend's one - it looks like not only adaptive function is working properly on his car, but light intensity seems to be much more greater! Looking forward for your updates and hope it is just a software issue.

BMW called me to say mine is delayed. Was expect end of March. Now, end of April, they explained it was something to do with new idrive9.

@@richardluckman thanks… sound like it’s worth the delay to get iDrive 9 which requires a new head unit. I’ve asked my dealer about my order.
